In an interview, Wilson shared her enthusiasm for the upcoming revival while noting that she had heard chatter that she would be returning.

“That’s what I’m hearing, so I don’t think Lena would lie about that,” she told PEOPLE Magazine with a laugh when asked if she would reprise her role.

The actress also made it clear that her willingness to return goes beyond just revisiting a popular television series. Wilson praised Dunham’s talent and said she respects Williams, whose mother she played on the HBO comedy.

“Oh my god, yes. I mean, Lena is one of the most talented people I’ve ever worked with. I would do anything for her,” Wilson said. “I would lean back.” She also said, “I know Lena must be cooking something really good.

Although Wilson’s comments strongly suggest that she is open to a return, HBO has not yet formally confirmed that she is involved in the revival.

While Wilson appears enthusiastic about reuniting with the team, The Blast reported that Adam Driver’s participation is still uncertain after the revival news.

Driver played Adam Sackler, Hannah Horvath’s love interest, throughout much of the original series. However, his name was absent from the initial list of returning cast members, which includes Dunham, Williams, Jemima Kirke, Zosia Mamet, and Andrew Rannells.

The uncertainty over Driver’s possible return follows Dunham’s allegations about their working relationship in her 2026 memoir, “Famesick.”

Dunham said Driver could be verbally aggressive on set and described incidents in which she said he threw a chair against a wall near her and punched a hole in the wall of his trailer.

According to the actress and filmmaker, the two haven’t spoken since “Girls” wrapped. The series ended its six-season run in 2017, although Dunham says their last connection was around the end of filming in 2016.

Dunham recalled sharing a car ride with Driver after they finished working together. In her memoir, she mentioned a farewell where he held her hand and kissed her cheek and face.

She also remembered him telling her, “I hope you know that I will always love you.”

Dunham wrote that she hoped their last interaction would lead to a different future for their relationship, even thinking they might collaborate again someday.

Before HBO officially announced the revival, Allison Williams had already expressed interest in reuniting with her former castmates.

As The Blast reported, Williams discussed the possibility during an appearance on her father Brian Williams’ podcast, “We’re Back! With Brian Williams!”

When asked if the “Girls” cast would be reuniting, the actress eagerly replied, “Oh my God, I would love to. The answer is, I hope so. I’ll be there if they call. I really am.”

Williams also suggested that it would be more interesting to revisit the characters as the cast grew older and entered different stages of life.

“It becomes more likely that every year that passes, because it would become more interesting to talk to everyone,” she explained.

Aside from the reunion speculation, Dunham has also discussed why she included details about her complicated relationship with Driver in her memoir.

In an earlier interview reported by The Blast, the filmmaker said that she wanted to describe their dynamic honestly rather than portraying her as being solely responsible for the challenges she experienced while working on Girls.

Dunham explained that both of them were leading important professional changes during the series. While learning how to direct a production at a young age, Driver was gaining exposure as an actor, including his role in the “Star Wars” franchise.

She admitted that he was a private person focused on his work and said that she sympathized with his situation.

“The goal wasn’t to make Adam look like he was in any way outside of the show, but just to talk about how complicated and confusing those first experiences of trying to be a boss were,” Dunham said.
