New York City is nothing if not a hub of culture, so it made sense that Jaguar launched its new Type 01 luxury electric four-door GT in the heart of Manhattan on October 6th. Florence Pugh, Sienna Spiro, and Jordyn Woods-Towns showed up during the release party.
I had a front seat to all the action – Jaguar hosted a group of media and influencers in town to be part of the milestone moment. We definitely got A-list treatment: we stayed at the flagship magazine The New York Edition, right on Madison Square Park; they were driven around town in Range Rovers which were very fun; and I had a very happy dinner at Budakkan which was much appreciated the night before the big announcement.
And, of course, we got a detailed look at the Jaguar Type 01, which is a stunning car – and the most aerodynamic model the luxury brand has ever produced, with 1,000 horsepower to boot. It puts the design front and center, and I expect a lot of celebrities will be trying to buy one of their own when they become available to order (probably in January).
While I enjoyed getting the first glimpse of the iconic car right away, I also, of course, enjoyed stealing glimpses of the stars in attendance. Pugh wore a stunning tuxedo gown, and her mini bangs were the star of the show along with a stylish updo and dark lips. Woods-Towns spent the night side by side with her husband Karl-Anthony Towns, and you could tell the couple is New York royalty; they took pictures with fans throughout the night. Celebrity chef Roze Traore served up fare as guests mingled and danced.
The crowd booed when Sienna Spiro, who won best new artist at the VMAs, took to the stage. In her retro look, she performed some of her most popular songs. I especially loved her live rendition of “Great Expectation.”
Going back into the night, the stars were shining above us and the crowd was shining too. Another New York City night in the books.
