Wow.
Joe ManganielloHis new book drops some bombshells – including some shocking claims about an ex-wife Sofia Vergara!
People the magazine received a few excerpts from his new memoir, Bloodlineand in them True blood Werewolf reveals the depth of a seven-year illness that he began to fight while he married the New Family alum.
The two TV stars got married in 2015 and enjoyed their newfound happiness until reality sent a shock wave that brought both their worlds down.
We first heard about his secret health battle when he revealed his new book back in June, but now we have an even bigger picture. If you are lazy, sit down while you read this…
His symptoms, per Peoplestarted with “severe abdominal pain” – and it got so bad that he couldn’t even walk with the pain. Fever, rash, rectal bleeding, and more issues soon followed. His digestive tract was hurting, and he was getting “sicker and sicker.” He even had to suffer organ failure and get an ostomy bag at one point.

His poor health was not only taking a toll on his body. Unfortunately, he says it contributed to the downfall of his marriage to Sofia, writing that their partnership “had been without any emotion.”
The book says that things have become so cold in their relationship that Sofia “refused to kiss him, per Peopleno matter how much he “asked” her for one. Now, obviously, if someone doesn’t feel like giving another person a hug they shouldn’t be, but it shows how tight things were. “In sickness and in health” had clearly gone out the window!
Perhaps more surprising, however, is the claim that she “mocked” him for his chihuahua bubblesa small dog he took for comfort when he became suicidal. He says his mental health had taken such a toll that he had to give up his gun because he couldn’t stop the thought. Bubbles saved him.
“I went from being a patient to a caregiver.”
Finally, Joe and Sofia decided to publicly announce their separation in 2023. A year later, the then 51-year-old Sofia The Country reason for her divorce:
“Well, I’m separated from my second husband, who I was with for 10 years. My marriage broke up because my husband was younger; he wanted to have children and I didn’t want to be an old mother. I feel it’s not fair to the child. I respect anyone who does it, but it’s not for me anymore.”
His new book, however, goes against that. Saying “things were reported and printed about me that were false,” Joe says he was the one who gave up on having children due to his illness. They had tried rounds of IVF, with no luck, so the next step was to get an egg donor. But he says he thought about what would happen if he died, and he couldn’t imagine leaving Sofia with a child that “wasn’t biologically hers.”

This continues with what he said Men’s Diary back in 2024. At the time he was not ready to go into details about his illness, but he was ready to reject her version of events. He told the boy that they “tried to have a family for the first year and a half,” but it didn’t happen for them:
“And we had a big conversation right out of the gate the first month we dated. I said, ‘If you’re done with kids, I understand. Just tell me, and I’ll know what this is, and that’s fine.’ But it wasn’t like that with her. And I swore to her that I would never leave if it didn’t work out. And I didn’t.”
So, no, children are not “inevitably why everything ended,” he says. Instead, according to his account, what really happened was that “two people grew apart, and sometimes that happens.”
As for his illness, to this day doctors still do not have a diagnosis for it apart from the fact that it is a type of autoimmune disease. In his book Joe writes about seeing a shaman who told him he was connected to generational trauma (his ancestors lost family in the Armenian genocide). He has since been able to successfully reconnect his digestive tract and is now symptom free.
“Whatever chains there were to the past that my ancestors suffered, they were completely broken.
People consultation Dr Dawn Beaulieu for his medical treatment. She has not worked with Joe, but she works in gastroenterology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She says “autoimmune diseases can go into remission,” and “medically, all we know is that it’s better.”
And thank you very much! What Joe went through – for years, mind you – feels like absolute hell. We are so glad he is still here with us. And we know his new lover, Caitlin O’Connoryes too!
Wishing Joe, Caitlin, and Bubbles a lifetime of health!
Bloodline out in bookstores on October 13. At this time, Sofia has not publicly commented on Joe’s claims.
