Rapper Rick Ross turned himself in to police on Thursday (October 1) on domestic violence charges.
The 50-year-old entertainer now faces charges of one felony count of battery by strangulation and one count of misdemeanor battery.
Why was Rick Ross arrested?
TMZ reports that an ex-boyfriend went to police about an alleged incident in August 2026. She says he “woke her up in a jealous rage over a photo she was tagged in on social media” and she claims he got physical.
TMZ reports: “The woman said Rick punched her in the chest several times, choked her to the point where she couldn’t breathe, grabbed her by her ponytail and slammed her against a wall.
Rick Ross pleaded not guilty to both charges
TMZ reports that he pleaded not guilty. Dear lawyers, Steve Sadow and Bradley Horensteinalso released a statement.
“William Roberts II, known professionally as Rick Ross, has been falsely accused by an ex-boyfriend whose true motives are unclear. The ex-boyfriend didn’t even file a police report until a month after the alleged incident took place.
