She pushes back against Kate’s allegations of violent behavior and Collin’s mental health struggles, sharing her own experience and thoughts about her ex’s son.
Kate Gosselin made accusations against Collin via TikTok replies
Kate Gosselin has not released a formal statement following the release of her son Collin’s memoir, in which he accused her of abuse. However, the mother of eight has been responding to users’ comments on TikTok, leveling allegations against Collin in her responses.
In a series of comments, Kate said that Collin exhibited violent behavior, used racial slurs, killed animals, and engaged in “physical behavior” toward female employees at the facility where he was placed before his 12th birthday.
Kate also pushed back against husband Jon Gosselin’s account of Collin’s psychiatric evaluations, which he said found no evidence of mental health issues. “I’m not sure who verified or paid him to make such a statement,” the reality star responded, adding that the current assessments do not “Erase” her son’s past behavior.
Colleen Conrad addresses Kate Gosselin’s allegations
On October 26, Colleen, who was in a relationship with Jon from 2014 to 2021, defended Collin by sharing thoughts from her time living with him.
Jon only got custody of Collin in 2018, and while under his roof, Collin formed a close and loving relationship with his then-girlfriend.
Colleen shared that she has over three decades of experience as a psychiatric nurse practitioner, indicating that she did not observe the symptoms or behaviors that Kate described in her comments when she shared a home with him. In addition, she noted that Collin gradually weaned his medications under the supervision of a medical professional.
“Mental health conditions are real, complex, and deserving of compassion and understanding. However, they should never be used to erase someone else’s life experience or to avoid valid questions about their past,” she said.
Kate Gosselin claims she visited Collin at the facility when allowed
In his memoir, Collin said his mother visited him only once during his almost two years in a detention center. As The Blast previously reported, Collin last saw his mother when she visited the facility when he was 12 years old. During the conversation, she told him, “You’re here because of you. You broke our family.”
Online, reporters asked Kate if she had visited Collin and, if so, how many times. They also pointed out that despite Collin’s alleged behavior, he was a child and deserved to be investigated.
“I visited EVERY time the facility felt stable enough to visit,” Kate replied, adding that there were times when a scheduled visit was canceled due to Collin being “unstable.”
Collin Gosselin is going against his mother’s claims
Collin’s representative rejected Kate’s claims, stating Entertainment tonight that the 22-year-old “had never used a weapon to harm a family member, and had never harmed or killed an animal in his life.”
The representative went on to say that Kate has been making false allegations against her son despite numerous professional psychological evaluations confirming her claims of mental health problems.
“Collin has shown incredible courage in telling his story, and he will not be intimidated or silenced by these damaging allegations,” the statement concluded.
Colleen Conrad celebrated Collin’s success
Colleen and Collin maintained their close relationship even after the former and Jon were no longer in a relationship.
Collin shared a birthday tribute to her in June, calling her a “true mother” and describing her as the “strongest woman I know, who came into the hardest part of my life and CHOSE to be my mother.”
After Collin released his memoir, Colleen took to Instagram to share an emotional message to him, congratulating him on his achievement and assuring him that she would always love and support him. “As proud as I am of your book, I am even more proud of the person you have become,” she wrote.
