Porsha Williams she revealed what she did for the first season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta on Thursday’s podcast.
As she also admitted that many members of the series spend more than they make, desire the benefit of being in Bravo, and deal with Shamea Morton44, comparing the end of their relationship to a divorce, Porsha, 45, confirmed that she made less than six figures for season five and seemed to shade Shamea’s lack of authenticity, as well as her lack of story.
“My first housewife check was probably around, it wasn’t close to $100,000. It was like, maybe $60,000-something,” Porsha said on the Oct. 1 episode of Monét talks to Monét X Change.
Porsha then revealed that she spent her entire salary on a party she threw for the ladies.
“Most housewives initially spend more money than they make,” she said.
That said, Porsha is grateful for the platform Bravo has given her, which has allowed her to build a brand.
“I think it’s crazy from the outside looking in. I think the fact that I was building a brand and the opportunity to build it on this platform was the bigger payoff, and at that time I’m married, I was established, I didn’t need the check that was needed… [but] this [was] a great way to have something for me,” she explained.

Moving on to Shamea, Porsha suggested that she was exacerbating the hurt she was left with when they fell out. As fans will recall, the former friends’ drama came to a head in the middle of season 17, with Shamea accusing Porsha’s mother, Diane Williamsof trying to sleep with her father, and Porsha claiming Shamea’s mother, Sarah Mortonshe slept with her uncle.
“Nobody really realizes how long ago we stopped being friends… Last year’s convention was almost two years ago and the show was filmed almost a year before that. It’s been three years,” she said. “So I’m not sure how true that is. But I’m pretty sure it’s true on my end. Like, I’m good. Like I’m just doing my job. When I’m done with people I’m not connecting with and people I’m not talking to, it’s just, I’m on my set with a colleague. That’s all.”
According to Porsha, she believes Shamea is holding out on a possible settlement for a “check.”
“This is work. You have to have stories to tell,” she said. “Once the cameras start rolling, my life really starts, and they follow it, and that’s pretty interesting. Some people, when the cameras start rolling, maybe there’s not as much to show, so they just grab something, and I think this is something you could grab and talk about.”
“I just hope this is her last year. I really want to. I want next year for every woman that’s going to be on the show to be successful in their own right. Come on. That’s what people want to see,” she continued.
Porsha went on to say that she wants all of her co-stars to have fans because that means more people are watching RHO.
“At the end of the day, I’m a businessman, and if we’re talking about business and the whole show, I want every girl to be successful,” she said. “Last season, I really tried to step back from anybody’s story. I really tried to make sure I wasn’t the center of anybody’s story. I still ended up like that, but I tried not to because at the end of the day, the fans get tired of the same talk.”
