Mary: I did a few auditions when I was young which were successful, but my mum and dad realized they didn’t want me to grow up as an actor. No shame on child actors, but it was just our choice to do so.
I’ve made connections through the world of Comic-Con. Q. Andrew Nelson, who is one of the Darth Vaders, is one of my first Comic-Con friends. He produces and directs through his company, Adventurous Ideas, which produces audio shows. I play one of the main characters, Jessica, in one of his plays, Extinct heroes. It’s still in development, but the first episode is out on YouTube as a little teaser.
I just signed up for it Uncertaintyis a very popular YouTube series about a bunch of invalids who have voices. We made a play on it Monsters, Inc.and I’m going to be a doorbell there.
I’m actually filming some scenes for a live-action horror movie next year, which will be fun.
Acting and voice acting are not my main interests, but when I was approached about these projects, of course, I would love to do them. Doing these projects has fueled my curiosity about getting into it a bit more. I’m slowly developing a voiceover reel for myself, and we’ll see where that takes me.
