Jessica Chastain is no stranger to the world of country crooning. Between “The Eyes of Tammy Faye” and “George & Tammy”, the actress seems very comfortable returning in cowboy boots and tight situations, all set to beautiful tones of the two steps. For her latest role, “Heartland,” Shana Feste, Chastain once again returns to country roads, but this time, it comes with some very dark tones.
In Feste’s latest, the “Country Strong” and “Run Sweetheart Run” filmmaker combines that very sensibility for a mystery thriller set in the world of country music. In the film, Chastain plays former icon Misty Jones, who is forced back into the world of Nashville she left behind, all because of the devastating news that her niece (also an up-and-coming singer) has gone missing (and is played by. true rising singer Carter Faith). Chastain will contribute her own voice to the film’s soundtrack.
According to the film’s official line, “Old country legend Misty Jones comes out of isolation to investigate the disappearance of her missing daughter, a rising country musician, and must deal with her past and the Nashville scene. The film also stars Feste “Country Strong” Garrett Hedlund, as well as Ross Lynch, Paul Sparks, Jennifer Nettles, John Hawkes, Hill Harper, Norbert Leo Butz, Wynn Everett, Isabelle Kusman, and David Rysdahl.
The film’s soundtrack features original performances from the film’s cast, including three-time Grammy winner Chastain, Nettles, Lynch, and CMA nominee Faith, along with Margo Price, Carly Pearce, Eddy Dunlap, Channing Wilson, and Dave “Fergie” Ferguson.
The film will begin streaming on Netflix on Friday, November 13, the same day the soundtrack arrives on all streaming services. Watch (and listen!) the first trailer for the film below.
