A wet T-shirt contest? Not quite. British Hall from Star cat is behind The Wet Tankthe crop barely – seen Hilary Duff, Kim Kardashian, Tate MacRae, SZA, Cat Doja, Nelly Furtado, Katy Perry, Camila Cabelloand Carrie Underwood.
Although the pink, black or white ribbed tanks look like they’ve been soaked in water (with black or white lace bras peeking through), there’s no need for a towel here.
“The Wet Tank has been a concept on my work desk for so long. … Starting from a very young age, I noticed the powerful energy that fashion and clothes could give someone. I would get lost in the details of that energy and I realized that I also wanted to play and explore fashion and how it could correspond to what I was feeling inside,” she told ET.
Whether the vibe is moody, sexy, sensual, chic, or edgy, the statement shirt is designed to make a splash.
“Part of my work is very fun and a little avant garde. … The Wet Tank seemed so cute and trippy to me, I had to research what it would look like in real life,” she said.
The twist on the illusion begins close to home, with each one custom-made in Los Angeles, California.
“I love my city. We’ve been through a lot, and the communities here are resilient. … I always want my environment to reflect the quality of my work and LA is home and definitely made of quality,” said the founder.
Once your order is in, expect to wait a little over a week before slipping into the much-loved creation.
But if you’re wondering what it’s like to wear something that seems to be wet-soft: “They feel kind of like jelly. They’re soft, flexible, and form to the body. They’re a little more breathable than latex but they have the same feel. They’re comfortable and supportive, for sure,” Hall explains.
In terms of style? There is plenty of room to make yourself.
“People dress them up and make the top higher by wearing it with silk and accessories, or they go casual for different events and festivals. I want people to choose their own adventure.”
That sense of individuality carries through all of Hall’s work, including the one-of-a-kind discovery Silence, Sabrina Carpenter, Tinasheand Shakira.
“Star Cat has been liked and loved by such a wide variety of people, which has honestly been one of the most beautiful parts of this journey. …
Now, she’s giving fans even more ways to wear her line with the A collection of tortured gardens with dresses, handbags, and brooches.
“I really like the mixed textures and colors. The shiny layered satin and distressed silk lace have been so fun and romantic to explore. … It was time to challenge myself and let new creative ideas move and flow.”
While natural elements are still embedded in her creative process, the designer dives even deeper.
“I’ve been exploring concepts related to water, earth, and air, but also the life cycles of birth, rebirth, and afterlife. … This collection feels a little more elevated with new fabrics and techniques.”
