Airbnb updates rules to limit guest actions during checkout

If so one thing travelers can agree that a hotel is better than a hotel Airbnbit is the payment process. Hotel status? Be out of the room between 11am and 1pm and keep the room key or return it. At the same time, in the last few years, we have seen more and more viral stories about Airbnb hosts asking guests to do everything from making beds and taking out the trash – just to avoid an additional cleaning fee. Come next month, however, that payment process will be much more limited.

The update is coming to the Airbnb payment process

According to CNN, Airbnb confirmed its payment updates on Thursday in a statement from a spokesperson. The change comes after a flood of complaints from customers about mobile home rules and the work of property owners. The spokesperson told CNN that consumer complaints cited house rules as “overwhelming, burdensome and difficult to manage.”

“So we’ve redesigned them so they’re easier to find and clearer to set, along with a new policy that keeps requests reasonable, with no surprises,” said an Airbnb spokesperson.

This policy change will apply to all reservations made on or after November 20th and made from that time onwards.

What Rules Are Changing?

Although property owners will still be allowed to add special requests to a reservation along with the platform’s standard list of rules, these requests must be reasonable. If the job requires “a lot of effort or time,” such as those typically performed by a cleaner, it won’t be going on Airbnb less than a month from now! Some of the prohibited activities include making beds, taking out the trash, or washing and putting away dishes. However, an action such as putting all the dirty dishes in the sink before leaving may still apply.

In addition, hosts will not be allowed to fine him. Instead, guests and hosts must work together to solve deep-rooted issues, such as property damage. House rules must be established at the time of booking, no changes or caveats added later. Also, hosts cannot require guests to submit a different contract from the one signed by Airbnb at the time of booking, except in select circumstances.

Social media responding to new policy

On social sites such as Threads, the announcement of an update to Airbnb’s policies on past, present and possibly future guests praises the platform. People are sharing their personal experiences with crowded payment functions and others are predicting that property owners will not be happy with the changes. Some hosts have also shared their opinions, from agreeing with the change to protesting the oath.
