Young and the Restless: BLOODIED Matt STAGGERS Back to Phyllis?!

The Young and the Immortal puts Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) in rough shape and he may need Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) now more than ever. Matt’s big plan to stop Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) fell apart and we might see him switch gears soon.

But if Matt turns back to Phyllis, the question is, will she accept him? Today we are going to talk about Matt’s big plans that are ruined and he needs Phyllis because things are not going as he had hoped. Several people warned Matt, but he didn’t listen.

Young and the Restless: Matt finally leaves town

So, after several delays that upset Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), we saw that Matt finally left town with Patty because Matt is trying to do the right thing. Even if he can’t get an official absolution from those he wronged, he felt that by taking Patty away Matt was still doing something helpful.

Not only did he want to get Patty out of town, but Matt naively thought he could get Patty to turn herself in. And Matt really wanted to stay because he has real feelings for Phyllis. But it hurt Matt so much that no one would believe that he has changed. He feels very sorry.

Matt’s solution is a hard sell on Y&R

But after decades of doing terrible things, you know, it’s hard for Matt to convince anyone that he wasn’t that person anymore. Mostly though, he wanted forgiveness from Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) and Nick. And he didn’t want anyone to hate him. But Sharon and Nick were Matt’s main target because he had hurt them the most of anyone. So, Matt hoped that if he could prove himself to Nick and Sharon that they could find it in themselves to forgive Matt and then he could move on.

But of course that didn’t happen, especially not with Nick. And even Sharon would feel better with Matt out of town. And Sharon made that clear to him. So, Matt was basically trying to make peace with everyone by leaving Genoa City and getting Patty out of town at the same time because she was a threat to so many people. Furthermore, just before Matt was finally ready to leave, Victor Newman had Matt dragged back to the new arena by his goons.

Young and Restless: Matt’s Nick Rages

And Victor said it was up to Nick if Matt could leave town or not. And of course, Nick mocked Matt and told him, “Get out of town.” Nick said he never wanted to see him again. He also warned Matt that he would rather not go to LA or anywhere near Noah Newman (Lucas Adams) and Sienna Bacall (Tamara Braun). And they said if Matt would ever come back The city of Genoathen Victor and Nick promised that it would end very badly for Matt. But at the same time, Phyllis falls in love with Matt and she really didn’t want him to leave. Phyllis even asked him to stay.

She wanted Matt to forget all the hatred and just build a new life with her. And at the time, Matt was very back and forth. He didn’t know what he wanted to do because, of course, he didn’t want to leave Phyllis. She is the only person who believes in Matt and she even loves him, but he didn’t want to be in the city. So, in the end, Matt left because of Patty, but also because of Nick, Sharon, and Victor.

And this week Patty is back on the loose and Matt is all shocked because Patty crashed the car Matt was driving when he tried to convince Patty that she had to turn herself in to the police. And last week we saw her tell Matt that she wouldn’t be locked up again.

Matt’s plan goes sideways on Y&R

That’s when Patty grabbed the wheel and kicked him really hard and caused them to crash. So, this week Matt joins the wreckage. He finds himself alone in the car. His face is all bloody and bruised. So, it looks like the crash and the airbag did a number on Matt. And of course, Patty is nowhere to be found. So, it seems she and Matt didn’t get that far because later this week, we have Matt in a motel room. It looks like one of the dark places in Genoa City. And he is lying on the bed. He looks miserable.

Some fans are wondering if Patty hitting the car and hurting him could turn Matt back into the same old psycho he was before. I really doubt that’s how they go. And after trying to do the right thing with Patty and failing almost immediately, I tend to think that Matt is in a bad place. Things are boring. He didn’t want to leave Phyllis, but he made the sacrifice to try to win some freedom. But Patty ruined everything for him.

Young and the Restless: Matt runs back to Phyllis

So, I fully expect Matt to return to The city of Genoa for a couple of reasons. Partly because I’m sure he wants to see if that’s where Patty went. And Matt might want to stop Patty from hurting anyone and causing more chaos. But, I especially think that Matt might as well go back to Phyllis and tell her, “I’m sorry. I was wrong.” So I see Phyllis get a call from Matt and he says to her, “I’m sorry for leaving. I should have stayed with you and I love you. I want to be with you, Phyllis.” All kinds of stuff.

This week however, Phyllis is making vows with Sharon. It seems to be about moving on with their lives. Maybe she encourages Phyllis to put Matt behind her and she tells Sharon, “Okay.” But if Matt comes crawling back and is sad, I don’t think Phyllis can turn Matt away.

She can at first, but I don’t think in the end she can. But right now, Phyllis is hurt that Matt left her. And on top of that, Phyllis warned Matt again that Patty was going to get hurt. I mean, heck, Nick and Victor warned him that Patty is dangerous. So, this week, if Phyllis makes a deal with Sharon to put Matt behind them, things could get complicated.

Young and Restless: Matt Gun isn’t going anywhere

Of course, Phyllis has a romantic interest in Matt and Matt has all of Sharon’s past, but I think Phyllis and Sharon might both be in for a surprise because I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Matt in Genoa City. And sure, he could slide away from this wreck once he licks his wounds, but I doubt he’s going to.

I think he’s going to want another chance with Phyllis, and I suspect she and Matt are going to start a serious relationship, but I think Phyllis will make Matt work for him first. And I’m still pretty sure he’s going to be part of ending Patty’s reign of terror once and for all. Young and innocent.

That could be how Matt is really redeemed because I don’t think he’s going anywhere. And honestly, Phyllis could use Matt in her corner because he’s pretty much the only person who’s really there for her.

Phyllis needs all the support she can get on Y&R

Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) wants to trust Phyllis, but he has a hard time because her son thinks that Phyllis is up to something again, and she certainly is. Lauren Fenmore (Tracey Bregman) supports her. Michael Baldwin (Christian Leblanc) supports her, but that comes with a tinge of, you know, Phyllis, we wish you’d behave yourself better.

Currently, she is taking out huge loans to buy that property from Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn). And Phyllis tries to make her mark on the Genoa City business world, but Daniel refuses to work with Phyllis at Arabesque. She clearly doesn’t want to do this alone. She wants someone by her side.

And I think Victor is going to keep going after Phyllis and she’s going to need someone to support her. And maybe Matt has learned his lesson and will realize that Phyllis is the only person in the world he can count on. Granted, his background is as a criminal, but that’s a business. He might find some way to help her run Arabesque. We will see. I think Matt is coming back, though.
