This ‘Lioness’ returning the original character is the biggest threat in season 4

season 3 of Lion has officially wrapped, but the real danger is just beginning. The third installment of Taylor Sheridanfinally the political thriller puts CIA chief case officer Joe McNamara (Zoe Saldana) through the ring, as things quickly go from bad to worse. Over the past two seasons, Joe has constantly monitored every move made by the officers she hires for the Lioness program which is famous outside the books. This time, however, Joe finds himself on the other side of the job when she suffers an unwanted abduction.

With her own life at stake, Joe has lost control of the situation completely and does not even know the identity of the person who is planning to kill her. But as the final minutes of the Season 3 finale reveal, the most dangerous enemies are often those with the strongest personal agendas – and, usually, the deepest pockets.

What Happens in the ‘Lioness’ Season 3 Finale?

season 3 of Lion follows two timelines, opening in the present day with the horrific kidnapping of Joe McNamara (Saldaña) in broad daylight, not far from her own home. As the CIA and its team scramble to find out who would want to kidnap a senior case officer, the agency tries to connect the attack with how Joe dealt with a Ukrainian double agent with whom she was in regular contact. Although the CIA suspects that Iran, Belarus, Russia or Ukraine may be involved, the real twist doesn’t come until the end.

The season 3 finale is arguably the show’s biggest surprise yet, as viewers finally learn who is behind Joe’s kidnapping. It is not a foreign enemy or a domestic cartel, but Aaliyah Amrohi (Stephanie Nur).

Aaliyah Amrohi as ‘Lion’ Could Be Season 4’s Most Dangerous Enemy

As a reformer, Lion Season 1 follows Cruz Manuelos (Laysla De Oliveira) as she takes in the family of a billionaire oil tycoon who secretly funds terrorist groups. Her direct point of contact is Aaliyah, the tycoon’s daughter. Aaliyah finds solace in Cruz, eventually developing a physical attraction to her, but she is also painfully aware of the privileged but limited world in which she was raised. Then Cruz kills Aaliyah’s father and boyfriend under the same roofleaving Aaliyah shocked and saddened.

Lion Season 1 doesn’t fully explore what that trauma does to Aaliyah, but Season 3 makes it clear that it completely changed her. She once wanted to shop, party, and enjoy herself before she got trapped in an unwanted marriage. Now, she’s ordered to kidnap a high-level CIA agent, treating terrorists and assassins from different nations like sisters. Given her history with Cruz, Aaliyah could be Lion‘ most dangerous antagonist yet – not because she wants power, but because her agenda is very personal. She was betrayed by the only person she trusted, and now she has the resources to make Joe and Cruz pay.

‘Lioness’ Has Not Officially Been Renewed For Season 4 (Yet)

Although the end of season 3 leaves many questions unanswered, Paramount has not yet announced whether it should Lion Season 4 is on the way. Saldaña has expressed her hopes for the future of the show in a conversation with Collider. Due to the nature of the cliffhanger, she said, “If we’re going to be stopped after this positive show, I’m going to be a little vocal about it.”

Recently, Sheridan has presented new seasons of the series Yellow stone espionage Marshals and the mafia-inspired crime thriller King of Tulsa. He is also preparing for upcoming productions, among them King of Tulsa Season 5, the King of Tulsa espionage Frisco Kingand A landman Season 3. With Sheridan’s history of a long streak and Lion‘ proved successful at the top of the streaming charts, a fourth season makes a lot of sense. It could also bring Aaliyah back into the story Lion full circle by officially tying back to the disastrous events of season 1.
