On this season of The Real Housewives of New York City, Sai de Silva going through a difficult time with her husband who is now in crisis, David Craig.
While Sai, 45, had spoken to some of her companions about their issues, in last night’s program she found out that David had filed for divorce. This was not something she knew before she found out from people who were texting her, because it was published online.
In a conversation on Bravo’s RHONY After Show podcast, Sai opened up more about how David filed for divorce.
“I asked for a divorce,” she began. “I asked him to go to mediation so we could do it privately, because I didn’t want the world to know. More importantly, I didn’t want the kids to know yet.”.”
Sai noted the time when David “felt he was measured” by her.
“He wanted the kids to be at spring break,” she continued. “My aunt passed the day before, and my support system is my aunt. He asked me several times when she leaves, and I say, ‘What difference does it make?’ The same day she left was the same day he filed, so I would be alone when I found out. And that was like … just hit me in the gut. I had to talk to my daughter right away, because I didn’t know if he told her. I know she didn’t, and I let her know.”
Sai said, “And she … she’s grown up a lot, and she sighed, and she took a hit, and she was just like, ‘Are you okay?’ Aand then she said, ‘It’s all right, Mummy. Like, it’ll be fine.’ She was like, ‘At least we can all be happy now.'”
As for whether she called David after he found out, Sai said she didn’t.
“I didn’t callI didn’t send a textI did not communicate,” she said. “In a way… he was reaching out to me for a big idea. And in that moment, it was almost like I’ve separated from someone I’ve known for so many years that if you could do something like this for me like thatas in such a … I want to say a shameful way, because that’s what it is to methen you know what? I am moving on, and my children are the ones who care about me. And I didn’t cry.”
Sai also said that she felt “really supported” by some of her comrades, and “mostly” she felt that when this happened, she was “not alone”.
