Marvel Studios’ epic conclusion to its WandaVision trilogy has arrived, and the critics have spoken. Disney+’s latest series, following the Avengers’ favorite android, Vision, played by Paul Bettany. The series will consist of eight episodes, released weekly, as fans discover what happened to Vision after the events of the 2021 Disney+ show.
VisionQuest was created by Terry Matalas, who previously worked on Star Trek: Picard. The series follows Vision as he lives in hiding and tries to understand his identity after being resurrected in WandaVision. However, he soon finds himself being hunted, and it’s revealed that his son, Tommy (Ruaridh Mollica), is still alive, despite being erased when Wanda removed the Hex in Westview. The first two episodes set up the series by revisiting Vision’s past, briefly referencing the Westview Anomaly from WandaVision, and introducing a new threat pursuing him.
Hours before VisionQuest‘s debut, critics’ scores appeared on Rotten Tomatoes. As of this writing, the series holds an 81% Certified Fresh critics’ score, slightly lower than Agatha All Along, but still a positive reception. Critics praised the series for its entertainment value, particularly the interactions between Bettany’s Vision and James Spader‘s Ultron. However, some pointed to the “forced callbacks” in the first two episodes and questioned how well the series would fit into Marvel’s current overarching storyline. Collider’s Taylor Gates gave VisionQuest an 8/10 in her review, describing the reunion between Vision and Tommy as “satisfying” yet complicated. She also praised the action scenes but criticized an early character death in the first two episodes. In addition, audience liked the show more, giving it an 89% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, a ranking higher than both WandaVision 88%and Agatha All Along‘s 82% audience score.

What To Know Before Watching ‘VisionQuest’?
VisionQuest takes place after the events of two Marvel Studios Disney+ series, WandaVision and Agatha All Along. Following the Battle of Earth in Avengers: Endgame, Wanda discovered that S.W.O.R.D. had dismantled Vision’s destroyed body. However, she later learned that the intelligence agency intended to turn Vision into a weapon it could control. After encountering Wanda’s resurrected version of Vision in Westview, Vision regained his old memories and fled. During the events of Agatha All Along, which takes place years after the Westview Anomaly, Agatha (Kathryn Hahn) was freed from Wanda’s spell with the help of William Kaplan (Joe Locke), who was secretly Billy Maximoff. Billy had inhabited William’s dying body following an accident, then became fascinated with witchcraft and sought out Agatha to travel along the Witches’ Road in hopes of finding his brother, Tommy. With Agatha’s guidance during the final task, Billy found a body for Tommy to inhabit. The series ended with Billy and Agatha setting out to find his brother.
The first two episodes of VisionQuest are available to stream on Disney+.
