There is a video of Kelly ClarksonA meeting with an Art of Play employee has revealed how the dispute between the singer and the Brooklyn store continues to grow. Both sides have publicly pushed back against each other’s accounts, keeping the incident under wraps. With the photos now circulating online, the back and forth continues to divide people, with opinions still divided about what happened.
On October 13, the investigative podcast “Pablo Torre Finds Out” aired an episode focusing on the drama between Kelly Clarkson and Brooklyn store, Art of Play.
On October 10, the singer shared her bad experience at the store with her 8 million followers on X, sparking an ongoing dispute between her and the store over their different accounts of what happened.
Now, the public can see how the interaction went. However, the obtained footage did not come with audio, and users are left to dissect the environment and body language of those involved.
The timestamp shows Clarkson entering the store around 2:50pm on October 10, wearing an oversized yellow shirt, baggy jeans, a gray baseball cap and a backpack.
The singer was at the store for less than five minutes

The video shows Clarkson browsing and picking up some items from the shelves. A few minutes after entering the store, she came to Molly, the automaton bird attached to the wall.
The singer then gets the attention of a worker, apparently asking about the bird. Clarkson can be seen pointing at Molly and talking to the clerk, who is casually leaning on a table or counter with his ankles crossed while holding a drink in one hand.
The worker then points to something that is blocked from view before walking in different directions. The entire interaction lasted less than a minute.
Clarkson goes back to the shelf and returns the items in his hands. Before leaving the store, she talks to another employee who was behind the cash register, gesturing with her hands and apparently explaining something to the man before walking out at 2:54 p.m., about 4 minutes and 50 seconds after she arrived.
Kelly Clarkson posted about the store 15 minutes after her visit
Another security footage, this time from the front of Art of Play, shows Clarkson reaching for her phone after leaving the door.
At 3:05 p.m., she sent her first viral tweet, mentioning Art of Play and sharing her “Pretty Woman” experience with the employee, saying she was looked at like she couldn’t afford the item.
The X post was at the center of the public controversy and has been viewed 46 million times as a post.
The store has since issued its own response, prompting Clarkson to call the business “fraudulent” as both sides continue to stand by their conflicting accounts of what happened.
People will still be divided over the controversy

While some people have changed their views after watching the security footage, others argue that the video proves nothing. Without audio, the clip does not establish what the employee told Clarkson, leaving the singer’s account unconfirmed or verified.
The ongoing conflict raises many questions, with people from both sides coming in. Observers say Clarkson was “entitled” and used her celebrity status as a weapon against the small business, highlighting how it is being harassed, shoplifted and bombed.
On the other hand, the singer’s supporters are still defending her, saying that she has the right to share her experience as a customer regardless of her status. Retail experts have also expressed their opinion, with some saying there may have been poor communication from the employee about the item, per News week.
Store owner wants Kelly Clarkson to face ‘social consequences’
Art of Play co-owner Adam Rubin has spoken out and heavily criticized Clarkson for using her status to “squash” his business, saying the workers are “at risk”. They’ve been getting phone calls non-stop, and content creators have been visiting the store since the singer’s first tweet.
Although Rubin said they had “no ill will” against Clarkson and even invited her back to their store, he said they find it “a completely plausible abuse of power, and she should have social consequences.”
