In partnership with Honda Stage, country soul crooner Kashus Culpepper brought his smoky, textured voice to UPROXX’s FYI Studios delivering a rendition of “Til The Sun Goes Down,” an uptempo cut from his latest EP Act I: Summer Nights.
Culpepper’s performance came to life on our XR platform, which brought real-time live footage of his movements and voices, captured on camera. The pictures were an echo of his movements against a cinematic environment that meant the warmth of the sunset, as the title of the song suggests. As the song hits the chorus, Culpepper stacks into something like a choir, making you want to get up and dance.
As the song builds in intensity, so do the images, the sunset-inspired colors shifting between shimmering tones of red, orange and yellow. It’s an interesting sight for Culpepper, whose visuals rarely get this psychedelic. His brand of church soul, blues, and southern rock has remained very natural up to this point in his career. The photos also give us a glimpse of how vibrant his sonic world has always been: “To see him on screen… just like I saw him in my head, he’s a really dope guy,” Culpepper tells us.
