Teresa Giudice speaking out after a series of troubling events with her daughter, Milania Giudice.
After the 20-year-old was arrested for assault in May and seen telling Teresa, 54, to “shut the f*ck” amid an airport row earlier this month, after which Milania was said to have been experiencing suicidal thoughts, the 54-year-old Real Housewives of New Jersey alum posted a statement on her Instagram story.
“As a mother, nothing is more important to me than the health, safety and well-being of my children,” Teresa began on September 28, just hours after The Sun released police body camera footage taken at the airport, where Teresa was seen claiming Milania had “fentanyl in her system”.
“The last few months have been very difficult for my family, and I feel it is important to say something while protecting my daughter at a very vulnerable time in her life. Milania has experienced great heartbreak and great psychological trauma after losing two of her best friends. Victoria Zardoya.
According to Teresa, the priority is to make sure Milania is surrounded by love, family, support, and the care she needs.
“I understand that since our family has lived much of our lives in the public eye, naturally there will be questions and speculations. But Milania is my daughter before she is anything else. She is a young woman who is going through a very difficult and very personal time, and she deserves the opportunity to heal without every minute of her pain being publicly scrutinized,” Teresa continued, requesting privacy for Milania and their family.
“I am asking, from one mother to another, and from one family to all of you, please show Milania compassion and kindness and allow her the privacy she needs right now,” she wrote. “We are so grateful to everyone who has reached out with love, prayers, and support. It means more to our family than you know.”
Teresa concluded, “At this time, we respectfully ask the media and the public eye to give Milania and our entire family the privacy and space we need as we navigate together.
Teresa’s statement comes just days after her husband, Joe Giudice54, defended Milania in a statement to Page Six, saying she was “going through a very difficult time” following Victoria’s death.
“Losing someone you love is incredibly painful, and grief has no timeline,” he said. “She’s been trying to deal with that loss while also dealing with the pressures that come with growing up in the public eye.”
“I know my daughter. I know her heart, and I know that what people on the outside see doesn’t tell the whole story of what someone experiences privately,” Joe continued. “There have been difficult times, but those times do not define who Milania is as a person. I love my daughter, and I will always stand by her.
Around the same time, Milania’s manager, Maria DeSantisconfirmed to E! News that Milania was “under the care of professionals who work with her and her family.”
