Kash dies at 29 in California shooting

Mackayla “Kash” Paige was fatally shot on Sunday in downtown Oakland, according to KTVU. The reality TV star died at a local hospital after being shot on the 200 block of 14th Street. The shooting reportedly happened around 1:30 a.m. around the Cave Lounge near 14th and Harrison.

Police officers arrived at the scene and found the ‘RoomH8z’ star suffering from a gunshot wound. The Oakland Police Department’s Homicide Division is reportedly investigating, according to TMZ. Additionally, the OPD arrested an unidentified woman in connection with the shooting. The Oakland Police Department has not said what led to the fatal shooting and Paige’s subsequent death.

Family and friends speaking out

Friends and family of the ‘Young & Reckless’ star gathered at the scene of the shooting on Sunday to remember Paige. Her cousin, Nicky Clayton, told KTVU that the reality TV star had been spending time with family before the shooting.

“She was cold,” Clayton said. “She was with a family. So she was supposed to be good. I don’t know what happened, but I know she’s supposed to be here…. “I’m in credit.”

Moreover, her friend Poodahh also spoke about the late reality TV star.

“Oh my God, she was so much fun,” she said. “Wasn’t she fun? Oh my God, this girl was so much fun. We were everywhere … She pushes me to be better every day. She sees when I’m not giving it up, and she pushes me to be what she knows I could be.

Kash reportedly wanted to start a business

Clayton said his cousin wanted to be famous. Not only that, but Paige was also interested in becoming a businessman.

“She wanted to be famous so bad,” he said. “She still had morals, don’t get me wrong. She wanted to be a reality star. She wanted to start her own business. She modeled for a lot of companies, and she really wanted to do makeup.”

The Oakland Police Department is asking anyone with information, photos, or video of the shooting to call them at (510) 238-3821 or (510) 238-7950. Additionally, the OPD can be reached via email at cidvideos@oaklandca.gov.
