Few TV announcements from 2026 have surprised our staff and readers as much as Hulu’s “Furious.” The serial killer drama created by Elizabeth Meriwether earned rave reviews and was named an IndieWire Critics’ Choice for its ability to put new spin on classic genre hits. Now, IndieWire and Disney are teaming up to celebrate the show with a special Pass the Remote screening featuring the show’s talented cast and crew.
On Friday October 16 “Furious” stars Emmy Rossum, Scoot McNairy, Quincy Tyler Bernstine, and Steve Way and composer Ariel Marx will attend a special screening and Q&A at the Vidiots Foundation in Los Angeles. The event will include a screening of one episode and an intimate chat with the creative team, followed by a beer and wine reception. Doors open at 6pm, with the screening starting at 7pm.
Space is limited, entry is not guaranteed, and seating at the event is first-come, first-served. Preference will be given to ACE, ASC, SCL, WGA, and TV Academy members.
If you haven’t had a chance to watch “Furious,” let IndieWire TV Critic Ben Travers explain why it’s worth your time.
“Even though ‘Furious’ is pulled from the crime genre playbook, it still uses these pieces with good reason — and to great effect,” Travers wrote. “Elizabeth Meriwether’s first foray into cops and killers—following her breakthrough sitcom ‘New Girl’ (a ‘Friends’-esque hangout comedy), the award-winning limited series ‘The Dropout’ (an Elizabeth Holmes bio-drama) and second The critically-acclaimed limited series ‘Dying for Sex’ (a comedy weeper of the highest quality) is thoughtful, entertaining and rewarding as it busts familiar trope after familiar trope. When it comes to genre storytelling, the devil is in the details, and ‘Furious’ succeeds in the nitty-gritty character work and the big picture that makes the routine feel repetitive.”
