Fairuza Balk breaks down her final Halloween party

It’s been thirty years since the cult classic The Craft in theaters, and lead witch Nancy Downs remains one of the coolest Halloween icons of all time. So for the last episode of Good Spiritsthe series BACARDÍ and UPROXX pair terrible images with a cocktail and some good stories, we caught up with the woman who brought it to life: Fairuza Balk.

Balk walked us through how Nancy would roll up to a party, “Nancy walks into a Halloween party, she owns it because she that stubborn, and she knows she’s unstable, which makes her dangerous,” she said.

And Nancy Downs’ appeal is not limited to one generation, it is truly transgenerational. Balk explains that “I once saw a grandmother, a mother, a daughter, and a baby all dressed up like Nancy Downs… all wearing the same thing…

During the program, Balk guides us through how she started researching for The Craftdigs into the spiritual side of Halloween, and describes her perfect Halloween party, where everyone is “dressed to the nines”. She talks about her favorite party drink (spoiler: it’s BACARDÍ and cola), the ingredients she considers essential, and the playlist she would have waiting for the night.

Balk brings a playful, menacing quality to the entire episode that makes it a joy to watch. Check out her episode of Good Spirits above, then pour yourself a BACARDÍ and a cola and start your Nancy Downs costume.
