His family described his sudden death on Friday October 30 as an “unspeakable tragedy” on the GoFundMe page, write:
“In an unfortunate accident, Matt Wright died on October 30 while working remotely in Los Angeles. His husband, father, sister and niece in New York, are eager to be back together to say goodbye. To carry the family.
If Matt has ever made you smile, said a word of encouragement just when you needed it, or ordered too much food for the whole table to enjoy, now is the time to repay the favor. Please donate as much as you can and share this with anyone who has been in the orbit of Matt’s big heart. And when you’re at dinner and you see the sunset, know that Matt is looking down, loving you, but very disappointed with what you ordered.”

She continued:
“We’re going to miss him. He’ll always be a highlight for our whole family at the Ellen show.”
In her final statements, she picked up another lover The Ellen Show fan favorite, Stephen “tWitch” Bosshopefully Matt and tWitch are together now:
“To Justin, his husband, and his family, I’m so sorry. We lost a good man. He and Twitch were so close, and now he and Twitch are together, dancing and laughing.
Fans remember, tWitch lost his life by suicide in 2022. It was a terrible loss for the whole The Ellen Show community and audience, and now another unthinkable death, far too soon, has left them in even more grief. So heartbreaking.
