Teddy Mellencamp has gone under the knife amid her cancer treatment, sharing her experience with fans.
“What I can tell you is that I don’t have to keep answering, of course it was okay with my cancer doctors, that’s why I agreed to do it,” he said. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum, 45, said in a Tuesday, October 13, Instagram Story video. “I was awake. I get my stitches out on Thursday. I have immunotherapy on Wednesday.” (Immunotherapy is a type of biological therapy that helps the immune system fight cancer, according to the National Cancer Institute.)
She said her phone was “blowing up” with questions after settling in Beverly Hills Dr. Sammela Sunder shared Instagram photos earlier Tuesday that Mellencamp captured undergoing upper blepharoplasty, which the Mayo Clinic describes as “a type of surgery that removes excess skin from the eyelids.”
After Mellencamp was first diagnosed with skin cancer in 2022, doctors discovered four tumors in her brain in 2025 that she has since treated through radiation and immunotherapy.
Dr. Sunder’s graphic post, which showed the star awake in various stages of an upper blepharoplasty, commonly known as an upper eyelid lift, explained her patient’s decision to sign up for the surgery. “Teddi had noticed that the skin on her upper thighs had been putting on a lot of weight over the past two years,” began the facial plastic surgeon. “For many people, changes in weight (due to natural causes, pregnancy, prolonged steroid use, medications) can lead to skin laxity.
The doctor also shared Mellencamp’s Instagram Story through her own account, as well as other photos captured during the surgery.
She said Mellencamp’s unnatural erection had led to “flat lines on the forehead” as well as a feeling of end-of-day fatigue on her “face and face,” which the doctor explained is not an uncommon patient concern. “The face feeling tired is a common complaint I hear from patients who need upper blepharoplasty or a brow lift,” she wrote.
Dr. Sunder said that Mellencamp also told her that she “couldn’t wear eye makeup without it moving to the upper part of her lid.”
Noting that Mellancamp had wanted to do the procedure “for a while,” the two waited until she was medically cleared by her oncologists.
“She got the ‘all-clear’ and we were able to do the procedure under local anesthesia. Just like everything else in her life, Teddi handled it like a real champ! Thank you for documenting the process and sharing it so it might help someone else considering the same procedure,” concluded Dr. Sunder.
Followers took to the comments section of the doctor’s post to offer feedback on the results. “Beautiful sewing!” wrote one social media user, while another said she “wanted this,” to which Mellencamp chimed in, “It’s so easy and painless, do it!”
