Taylor Swift won the final award of the night at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday (September 27) at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
The 36-year-old “Patient Zero” singer picked up Video of the Year for “The Fate of Ophelia,” which was presented to her by the night’s host, Snoop Dogg. This is her sixth win in the category at the VMAs!
In her acceptance speech, Taylor he gave the reward to the dead Dolly Partonwhom she called “the ultimate showgirl.”
Taylor she began her speech by saying how proud she was of the “The Fate of Ophelia” video, and doing “one continuous scene,” for which she had to “learn a lot about hiding cuts.”
She then proceeded to present the award Dolly and praised the late host.
“I want to thank and dedicate this award to one person, without whom this would not happen, and that person is the ultimate showman, Dolly Parton,” Taylor shared to cheers from the audience.
“Every song she wrote, her delivery was so dynamic and rich. It was like listening to her songs,” she continued. “It’s like watching the best music video you’ve ever seen in your life every time you hear what she’s written, and she handled this thing with such grace and joy and love and gratitude that she got to do this, and everything that happened in her life or career, she went back to love, and gratitude and appreciation for her fans.
“I’m lucky to have been one of them, and I will always be one of them,” Taylor decided. “I love you all very much, and I think we were all very, very, very… Dolly Parton for a while, and thank you for this wonderful time. I love you all.”
After Dollygoing over the previous month, Taylor he honored the country music icon.
