“Hi, it’s me. And I know I’ve been quiet for a few weeks since October 11th and you deserve to hear from me directly and I’m sorry it’s taken this long,” she began. “There’s a legal case going on and my lawyers have asked me not to say anything about that day and I’m listening to them and I’m taking this very seriously.”

A spokesperson for Selma Blair has spoken out after she was arrested for allegedly injuring two flight attendants during a mid-flight “medical emergency”. “Since Sunday night, the public account of what happened to Selma aboard a flight to New York has been built almost entirely on a police report and a ten-year-old newspaper headline. […]

“What I can tell you, however, is very simple, and the most true thing I know about myself, and that I have never once intended to hurt or frighten anyone in my life,” she said. “To the people I’ve disappointed, hurt, scared, scared, I’m so sorry.”

Blair also thanked the people who expressed their support in the wake of the scandal.

“And to the people who wrote, or called, or sent wishes of love or care, it has meant everything to me and my son, who is my world, as it is. [Blair’s service dog] Scout, which is also fine,” Blair said.

The Hard intentions the star ended the message by sharing, “So right now I’m going to take care of my health and my son, and think of you all with gratitude and love.”

Blair was arrested earlier this month after allegedly assaulting flight attendants on a flight from Los Angeles to New York.

“She was taken into custody and transported to the hospital for evaluation,” the JFK Port Authority Police Department said Us in a statement on October 11. “Two flight attendants also reported injuries, and one was transported to the hospital for further evaluation. The FBI is investigating this incident.”

Blair, whose lawyer said the attack was not intentional and that she was confused after missing doses of her multiple sclerosis medication, pleaded not guilty to the charges at a hearing on October 12. He was released from police custody on bond.

“Selma Blair had a medical emergency on the flight,” Blair’s rep said Us in a statement on October 16, addressing the incident for the first time. “There was no attempt to open the plane door. Selma did not intend to harm anyone.”

The spokesman further hit out at “horrendous” speculation about Blair’s MS battle.

“Her diagnosis has been public since 2018. What Selma has been able to do physically in the years since is nothing short of a miracle. She still has bad days, and lives with pain every day,” the statement continued. “Selma also has pseudobulbar affect, a brain condition secondary to her MS, which directly affects how a medical event is perceived by people who don’t know her. For the same reason, she travels with a service dog that won’t leave her side, and the authorities took the dog from her.”

According to the spokesperson, Blair has been working on a number of projects since her diagnosis and is also a “visible and tireless advocate for disability rights.”

The statement concluded, “There is much more to this story than has been reported, and we want to consider all the facts before passing judgment, whether in the courtroom or in the court of public opinion.”

Blair’s next hearing is scheduled for January 19, 2027.
