Rick Ross‘ a felony battery with strangulation charge was dropped in Miami. Prosecutors reportedly declined to charge Ross with the crime due to a lack of evidence. However, the rapper was charged with misdemeanor battery/domestic violence on Friday, October 30. The charge reportedly stands in addition to a misdemeanor battery charge, per TMZ.

A Felony battery with strangulation charge was allegedly dropped against Rick Ross
Rick Ross’ felony battery by strangulation charge has been dropped by Miami prosecutors, according to NBC Miami. As reported by The Shade Room, Ross was arrested in Miami Beach on Thursday, October 1, after his girlfriend, Jazzma Kendrickhe accused her of assaulting her. She said that Ross grabbed her by his tail, that she hit her against a wall, that he hit her in the chest, and that she choked him with jealous rage. In addition, she said that he broke lips.
Ross has vehemently denied the allegations, calling them “made up,” and has pleaded not guilty. In the latest update, the charges were reportedly dropped due to a lack of evidence, TMZ reported reported.
Ross charged with Misdemeanor Battery
Kendrick accused Ross of beating, choking and using her as a “punching bag” in their home during an incident in August. She said the artist was in a jealous rage and choked her until she could not breathe.
“I don’t know much,” she wrote on social media. “but I know that the man who lays his hands on me is a man who has never loved me, and will never love me.”
UPDATE: Rapper pulled on October 30th
As reported by The Shade Room, the rapper’s trial following his domestic violence arrest was postponed on Thursday, October 22.
Ross was arrested on Friday, October 30, per WSVN. However, he did not appear physically before Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Cristina Miranda, according to the Miami Herald.
“I’m delighted,” Ross’ attorney said of the dropped charge. “The lawsuit is very serious.”
Ross denied the allegations when he was released earlier in October.
“First and foremost, I am completely innocent of these fabricated allegations made against me,” Ross said. “I repeat. I am completely innocent of these fabricated accusations that have been made against me. Now, I have an amazing team, such an amazing team, and I am confident that this production will be put to rest.”
