Wendy Osefo and her husband, Eddie Osefohas hit a roadblock ahead of its upcoming insurance fraud trial.
Months before the The Real Housewives of Potomac The couple, both 41, are set to begin their trial by jury, a new report has revealed that Eddie’s lawyer, Joe Murthapreparing for a major career change, which could affect Wendy and Eddie’s case.
“The incoming state’s attorney is supposed to bring Joe into the Carroll County District Attorney’s office,” an insider told The US Sun on Oct. 11, which “adds a wrinkle to an already complicated situation.”
According to the report, Joe’s role change is expected to take effect in January, around the time Wendy and Eddie’s trial begins.
Eddie’s lawyer has been involved in a number of high profile cases, including a case involving the deceased Linda Trippwho was accused of illegally recording her conversations with her Monica Lewinsky53, amid her sex scandal with the former president Bill Clinton80, in 1995.
As RHOP experienced fans, Wendy and Eddie said their home was broken into and burglarized in April 2024 while they were on vacation in Jamaica with their three children. They went on to file insurance claims with three different insurance companies, even overlapping claims for some items with two different providers. Months later, they were arrested and charged with setting up the whole thing, as it was revealed that they had returned some of the items they claimed had been stolen.
“[Eddie] he was asked if any of the items on the list had been returned, which he denied. He was also questioned about other insurance but did not tell Homesite and Jewelers that he also claimed with Travelers Insurance,” the court documents explained.
After Homesite denied Eddie’s claim because it didn’t disclose his and other Wendy’s policies, prosecutors saw a post from Wendy after the alleged robbery in which she was wearing a diamond anniversary band she said was stolen. Then, in an April 12, 2024 email obtained by prosecutors, Eddie sent Wendy a list of their stolen items and asked if there were “any additional high-value items we can add to this inventory list (ie, Chanel shoes, etc.)?”
Additionally, after a search warrant was served, at least 15 items reported stolen, including Wendy’s diamond anniversary band, were found at Wendy and Eddie’s home.
Wendy and Eddie’s trial is scheduled to begin on January 25. They are facing charges, including conspiracy, insurance fraud, and providing false or misleading information.
