Marcel was not only a TikTok star but also a loving husband and devoted father of five. He was diagnosed with cancer in August 2025. He gained the attention of millions when he spent the past 15 months documenting his cancer journey on social media.

Taylor Johnson shares heartbreaking details of Marcel’s death
On Tuesday, news of Marcel’s death broke after his wife, Taylor Johnson, took to social media to share the heartbreaking news. In her Instagram post, Taylor revealed that Marcel died on November 2 at 4:45 p.m. She shared that her husband had been fighting for so long that she was tired of the pain.
Taylor also remembered Marcel telling her and his brother, Dedric, that he was ready to leave. Despite his condition, he continued to fight throughout the day, giving his family a little more time together.
In her emotional post, she wrote:
” 2nd November 2026 @ 445pm. I lost half of me. He fought so hard for so long.
He was so tired and exhausted and in so much pain.
Yesterday the only words Marcel said all day to me & Dedric were “I’m ready to go” and that was in the morning. He was still fighting to hang on all day so we got a little more time. I really have no words right now. I feel like this can’t be real life. How can this be real fucking life. I thought I was going to wake up and he was still going to be here by my side. I love him with all my life and life will never be the same. @celnoshell”
Marcell Johnson’s brother shares emotional tribute after his passing
Taylor wasn’t the only family member to share an emotional message after Marcel’s death. His younger brother, Dedric Charles Johnson II, also took to social media to reflect on their relationship. In a heartfelt tribute, Dedric described Marcel as a protector, best friend, and father figure after losing their father at a young age.
He praised Marcel’s strength throughout his battle against cancer and said how proud he was of the man and father his brother had become. Dedric also promised to look after Marcel’s wife, Taylor, and their children. He vowed to keep his brother’s legacy alive and make sure his children would always remember how much their father loved them.
In his emotional Facebook post, Dedric wrote:
“Yesterday, November 2, at 4:45 pm, a piece of me left this world that I will never get back. My big brother, my protector, my best friend inside, and one of the biggest pieces of me took his last breath.
I’ve spent so much of my life looking up to you, and I don’t think I’ve ever found the words to describe how proud I am to be your little brother. Proud of who you became, the family/foundation you built, the father you were to your boys, even a father figure to me having lost our father so young, and the strength you showed even when life gave you every reason to give up. You fought a battle where the odds were stacked against you from the jump and you faced every last minute of it with confidence and determination that you were going to beat this obstacle, and I will look at that for the rest of my life. To say you were strong is an understatement, you were a true superhero.
Having you as my big brother was the greatest blessing of my life. Losing you feels like losing a part of myself, a part of my history, and a piece of home that I can never replace.
But I need you to know something. It was not that promise I gave you but something I said to give you peace. It’s a promise I plan to keep for the rest of my life. Taylor and these boys will never have to question whether they are Uncle Deej. I will be there for the birthdays, the milestones, the hard days, and all the little moments in between. I will do everything I can to make sure your boys grow up knowing exactly who their father was, how deeply he loved them, and how proud he would be of them. I can never fill your shoes, but I will spend my life making sure they never feel like they have to walk through this world alone like you and I did.
I don’t know how to navigate a world without you in it. I’ve already had to say goodbye to too many people I love, and I never thought I’d have to figure out how to live without my big brother too. There is so much more that I wanted us to experience together. So many conversations, laughs, memories, and years that I thought we would have.
I hope you left this world knowing how loved you were, how proud I am of you, and how much of the person I am today is because of you.
You spent your life as my big brother, guiding, and being a voice of reason for me. Now I will spend the rest of my life making sure your legacy lives on and is never forgotten, BIG CELLY! 🖤🦍

Social media users gathered under The Shade Room Teens Instagram post to mourn the death of Marcel Johnson and send condolences to his family. While some expressed their heartbreak, others shared prayers for his wife, children, and younger brother.
