Jon Stewart is urging Democrats to remove Chuck Schumer and other senior leaders to make room for new voices after the blue wave midterm victories.
On Thursday’s episode of “The Weekly Show,” the host explained why one of the first things Democrats should do after their Election Night gains is remove many of the party’s top leaders and start fresh. That starts with Schumer, who Stewart said does not deserve as much credit as he has been seeing for the winners.
“In any case, it is the work of one of this opportunity. This opportunity is a Job to knock down the obstacles and the old way of thinking that has brought us to this mess,” he said. “Someone has to meet this moment and they have to show – and it’s not this moment, ‘Oh, we have to impeach everybody,’ so, you have a chance to really govern. Do it.”
“It’s a bull-t system and it has to go,” Stewart continued. “And they, anyway, as they already are, ‘Chuck Schumer deserves a lot of credit for putting this together…’ ‘Chuck Schumer deserves’ – Chuck Schumer fought tooth and nail against half of these royals!”
In the mid-term elections the Democrats took back both the Senate and the House of Representatives. The decisive gains across swing states including Texas and North Carolina gave President Donald Trump a major setback midway through his second term. After the defeat, Trump wrote on social media that things would have been different if he had also been in the election.
“I wasn’t on the ballot and if I had been, we would have won IN THE LAND! Thank you for your attention to this issue,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
