Jack Nicholsonthe Hollywood star known for his charismatic characters, has been living an increasingly “reclusive” life, reportedly leaving some longtime friends concerned about his health.
The actor, who turns 90 next year, has effectively stepped away from the entertainment industry and has made few public appearances in recent years.

Friends of Nicholson, who have known the actor since the early days of his illustrious career, are worried about his decision to distance himself from a large part of his former social life.
A source told the National Auditor that friends hope they could celebrate with him at a possible birthday party when he turns 90 next year.
However, their concern stems in part from the fact that Nicholson was no longer as social as he once was due to his new “restricted” lifestyle.
“He was the life of the party before, so it’s hard for people to accept that he just outed himself, but he’s Jack. He’s always been a wild card,” the source said.

The 89-year-old’s withdrawal appears to be particularly difficult for his friends to reconcile with their fond memories of the actor in his youth.
The source said that although Nicholson is very private, “people come and go from the house,” including members of his family. He is, however, “selective about who he sees” and hasn’t seen some of his friends in a long time.
According to the insider, his friends seem to respect his boundaries, as Nicholson has made his intentions very clear: “he doesn’t want anyone falling over or bothering him to go out for lunch.”
However, they are worried about him, and the source explained “It’s hard to be on the outside looking in, especially when it’s so uncertain. Nobody knows how he’s really doing.”

Although Nicholson’s friends may feel shut out of his life, his family is often with him, so he has not completely isolated himself.
“Lorraine is there all the time, and he gets plenty of visits from Ray and the others too, so it’s not like he’s completely cut off from the world,” the insider told the publication.
Nicholson is the father of six children, namely Jennifer, 62, who he shares with ex-wife Sandra Knight, son Caleb, 55, whose mother is the late Susan Anspach, and Honey, 44, with Danish model Winnie Holman.
He also shares a daughter and son, Lorraine, 36, and Ray, 34, with American actress Rebecca Broussard. His youngest child, Tessa Gourin, was born to actress Jennine Gourin.
Lorraine, who is said to be “there all the time,” has provided insights into her father’s rather private life.
In April 2026, she posted a picture of the legendary actor on Instagram as he celebrated his 89th birthday with his friend Joni Mitchell.
A source previously told the Daily Mail that Nicholson is “doing well; he’s happy to be out of the Hollywood scene and he’s just enjoying time with his family. He loves being around his kids and is very close to them.”
Public Appearances of the Actor In the last times
Nicholson was last seen in public in February 2025, when he attended the 50th anniversary special of “Saturday Night Live” and introduced Adam Sandler.
AND! News reported at the time that Lorraine had revealed that her father is “very hesitant about appearing in public right now,” and because of that, it was a “real battle” to get him to appear for the event.
The actor’s last film role was the 2010 romantic comedy “How Do You Know,” directed by James L. Brooks, and starring Reese Witherspoon, Paul Rudd, Owen Wilson, and Kathryn Hahn.
Before his appearance at the SNL event, he was last seen in 2024 on the Beverly Hills tour, which came three years after his previous public appearance at an LA Lakers game in 2021.
Despite his conspicuous lifestyle, Brooks believes Nicholson is likely to return to Hollywood, telling AND! news, “I’m sure he’ll be working again. I hope he’ll be with me.”

His memorable performances in films like “Easy Rider,” “Chinatown,” “The Shining,” “Batman,” “A Few Good Men,” and “As Good as It Gets” helped define his reputation as one of the most charismatic actors in the business.
The Oscar winner has received three Academy Awards for Best Actor in the 1975 film “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” and “As Good as It Gets”, as well as for Best Supporting Actor for “Terms of Endearment” in 1983.
He has established a legacy after a career spanning five decades and has largely stayed out of the public eye since his last film in 2010.
