Justin SylvesterEmmy nominated host of E! News, saying Bravo is “encouraging housewives” not to post about the show. He also shared why, and revealed how much of a “bonus” they have if they follow the rule.
Before the new seasons Real Housewives (including Real Housewives of Orange County) companions are unusually mum about their drama while filming. This is very different from shows like Secret lives of Mormon womenwhose comrades post about their fights in real time.
“Bravo encourages housewives not to tweet about the show. So they get a bonus,” said Justin on Chicks in the Office. “Like don’t tweet any spoilers or fight online, they’ll give you X dollars to leak everything.”
According to Justin, this policy ought to happened with Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, which often posts spoilers.
Justin then shared why Bravo doesn’t want co-stars to start dramas online.
“Because sometimes, they gave up [the storylines] go,” he explained. “Because they were trying to protect themselves before the show came out.”
“You can’t talk about anything that hasn’t aired yet,” he continued. “And they put that ban on them and gave them – I think it was like – $30,000 or $40,000.”
Back in 2020, shortly after Tamra left RHOC (before being hired back two seasons later), a source told Radar that a salary dispute led to her decision to leave the show.
“Bravo bosses wanted Tamra to be the bridge from the old team to the new one in season 15 and she refused,” the source said at the time. “Tamra finally got her contract letter, after the other women, and she had big situations in it. She was even more than reduced to a friend role. She wouldn’t have much camera time. And that meant she would earn little to nothing in real TV terms.”
“She would go from $900,000 per season to $20,000 per episode for just three shows, which would add up to $60,000 in total,” the source said. “It was humiliating… so Tamra walked away.”
New episodes of The Real Housewives of Orange County air Thursday nights on Bravo.
