Days of Our Lives Holly Jonas (Ashley Puzemis) is very upset this week and I expect she is going to get more strange texts and we are wondering if these messages could be coming from Sophia Choi (Rachel Boyd) very much alive, not dead.
Days of Our Lives: A Mason Story by Sophia
So, Holly was quite taken aback when she got that random text out of the blue, the one that said, “Are you having fun?” The most alarming thing, it was sent from an unknown number. So, Holly didn’t recognize him and was out with Tate Donovan Black (Leo Howard).
They were having a picnic by a lake and the text interrupted their private time together. And it worried Holly that she and Tate were being watched and that she could be stalked and targeted. Later when Holly ran into Mason Whitfield (Brandon Butler), that’s when she confronted him. And Holly asked why he thought she was responsible for someone’s death.
Mason said he got to know Sophia from her distress calls to the suicide hotline, and said he volunteers there. You’d think he shouldn’t be sharing it. But I guess since Sophia died, there is no privacy concern. So, Mason was well aware that Holly had said rude but true things about Sophia on the Salem University social pages. But Mason didn’t know that Sophia had baited her friend Holly into doing it by using a fake username.

But even with all that, Mason believes that Holly is not taking responsibility because she said things knowing that Sophia was in deep trouble and had mental health issues. Besides, Mason wasn’t shocked and didn’t seem to care that Holly was a victim of Sophia’s mental bullying. Partly because Mason knew from Sophia’s calls about many of the bad things she did to Holly. It looks like Sophia didn’t hold back. She told the suicide counselor everything.
More importantly, it seems, when Holly was grilling him, Mason denied that he sent any texts to Holly about sports or anything. But Holly freaked out when Mason casually said, “Have fun.” And he left the table at the pub for her and Arianna “Ari” Grace Horton (Vico Escorcia). But having fun is something everyone says. And Mason insisted he never texted her, even though he got her number from a group chat for one of the classes they’re both in at Salem U.
In addition, Holly’s confrontation about the secret text seemed to worry Mason. And in the end, he made it clear that he wants nothing to do with Holly. So, it looks to me like maybe Mason isn’t the culprit and instead he’s a red herring that Holly is probably going to focus on and not look for the real culprit. And that makes me wonder if Sophia is the prime suspect.
Days of Our Lives: Sophia survives Kristen’s attack?
Now, we all know that Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) killed Sophia. We saw Kristen bash her in the head with a rock. She made her boys throw Sophia’s body into the river. And Kristen made sure Sophia was presumed dead after a suicide by making her write a suicide note. And of course, she made those calls to Mason. But Sophia’s body was never found.
Also, any kind of ominous anonymous text goes right in line with Sophia’s past tormenting of Holly. In addition, Sophia’s survival and return have been speculated for months. And in Salemwhen somebody dies and there’s no body, you know, they’re going to come back. So, for Sophia to continue ruining Holly’s life, she must have survived Kristen’s attack. You know, maybe Sophia was rescued, pulled out of the river by someone, or dragged out when she was outside Salem.

And if you remember this summer, when Holly, Ari, Tate, and Aaron Smith’s Island. Holly was not feeling well because she had accidentally drunk arsenic water. And Ari and Aaron went out on a canoe, while Holly and Tate stayed behind at the cabin. And something really comes to mind about the conversation between Ari and Aaron Green (Louis Tomeo) about being out on a boat when they returned to the cabin.
So, Ari and Aaron mentioned a creepy old houseboat they saw while paddling around. So, maybe that’s where Sophia has been hiding in this broken building Smith’s Island. Maybe that’s where the river sent her out. And she’s lying ready to make a move to make Holly’s life a living nightmare again. Sophia might even have spied on them while they were at the cabin. The four of them. And of course now Sophia could sneeze Salem keeping an eye on Holly.
Sophia Worse than ever on DOOL?
Sophia became very adept at sneaking when Rachel Black (Lorelei Olivia Mote) covered her when she was crawling out of Bay View. And we know Ari saw her once. So maybe now Sophia is extra careful. So Holly’s enemy could have been waiting for months while she recovered physically from drowning near him and being bashed in the head by Kristen. And Sophia could be even more direct because her mental health issues could be exacerbated by a traumatic brain injury.
So, maybe Sophia is hiding and planning. So no one, especially the DiMeras or the Salem PDyou know she’s alive because EJ DiMera (Daniel Feuerriegel) would kill Sophia because she tried to kill Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman). That’s for sure. I suspect that when Sophia recovered and heard that Kristen was gone Salem that she thought it was safe to return to town. So, maybe Sophia is watching Holly from a distance.
It would be easy for Sophia to get a burning phone or steal someone’s phone and send texts to Holly to prey on her and start a whole revenge plan. So, maybe Sophia texting Holly is stage 1 of torturing her. But also to test the waters to see if anyone suspects that she is alive. Sophia may be using her knowledge of Holly’s habits to time the messages, wanting Holly to know she is being watched. The recent near mugging may even have been set up by Sophia. Strange things have happened there Salem.
Sophia uses Mason on days
Then we have Mason appear on the canvas and he has that grudge against Holly for her part in Sophia’s suicide. And this could be a coincidence or maybe Sophia is aware of it and is using it to her advantage as a cover. So, maybe she wants Holly to focus on Mason. That way Sophia can stay in the shadows and Holly watches Mason. So, this week we have Holly feeling guilty.
She is struggling. She appears on Leo Stark’s (Greg Rikaart) new podcast with Lani Price (Sal Stowers) to talk about the mugging. And if Sophia is alive, you can bet she’ll be looking for more weapons. So Mason’s words definitely got to Holly and we’re going to see Tate run in with Mason this week. But if Tate goes after Mason, I think Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) will probably tell her granddaughter, you need to get your jets on because Mason is a good guy doing important work and he’s a soldier and he’s got some. PTSD.

So, with Halloween coming up soon and sweeps starting in just one month, Sophia could increase the text and scare Holly even more. So, maybe Sophia is waiting for the right time to strike. Maybe when EJ is distracted because Sophia should be afraid of him.
Luckily, Johnny survived. But EJ would take great joy in destroying Sophia. If she is behind the stalking and sending those texts to Holly, that could be part of the reason Tate and Holly end up going away. Salem. We already know that Ashley Puzemis and Leo Howard have been let go. So, that means Tate and Holly are leaving town. And maybe it’s because of Sophia.
