Nancy: I certainly didn’t realize that back then Carrie is a film that people would feel so deeply, be affected by, and continue to recognize 50 years later. The idea of being “the other” – everyone who is a teenager feels that to some degree.
I feel very emotional about it because it launched my career, and I didn’t know I was meeting my future husband. Little did I know that I would go on to make all these films with Brian that I still talk about, which are very iconic.
I’m excited about that Carrie it is still loved by so many people. When you’re making a film, and you’re young, you’re just so happy to work as an actor. You don’t even think what it means.
Now I see how many people accept it, especially curious listeners. My brother was gay, so there’s a lot of emotion attached to that for me. Going to Queer Fest makes me so happy, because I know Chris is an icon, whom I love.
I am very honored to have been a part of it.
