Andrew Cohen he got himself in a pickle recently in a conversation with Jeff Lewis on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen live.
Andrew, 58, told Jeff, 56, that he had paid a babysitter $30 an hour to watch his two children.
Jeff noted that it was “cheap” to him, saying, “especially from someone with your money.”
“She was there for two hours, and you gave her 60 bucks? Did that cover the cab?” he asked.
“She was there for two hours and fifteen minutes, so I gave her $70,” Andy explained.
Jeff insisted that he would likely have “paid $100 for two hours” to watch Andy’s children, and revealed that he pays a babysitter $37 an hour to watch his only daughter.
Andy spoke on the subject on Fox’s Live Zone Primetime recently.
When asked if he was surprised to see headlines across the country during a conversation he had about how much he paid his babysitter, Andy replied, “Dude, yeah!”
“I do he didn’t even realize it was a thing,” he continued.I go on the radio, I talk, and then I go. And then two days later, I’m on the news media at this event, and Page Six is like, ‘Are you going to raise your child?’ I’m like, ‘Is this a thing?'”
“So yeah, it’s surreal,” he continued.
Andy also called the headlines that came out about the situation “so horrible.”
“They’re like, ‘Millionaire cheapskate Andy Cohen is overpaying…’ Anyway, this was like a 21-year-old girl I was trying, a friend of mine… just, anyway, I’m not free, and I stand by … what I paid her.”
Andrew Cohen was referring to a Page Six reporter asking him Tuesday at the Broadcast and Cable Hall of Fame Awards if he felt he was paying his sitter too much money.
He noted that he had checked with his friends and they were paying similar rates.
When asked if he felt like a free skate, Andy replied, “I didn’t until we started talking about it on the radio. You make me feel like one.”
