Christina Applegate She thought she would understand the illness that took her life. Since revealing her multiple sclerosis diagnosis in 2021, the actress has spoken openly about pain, fatigue and losing the ability to move around like she once did.
However, a hospital stay intended to treat what she believed to be another MS flare reportedly took a terrible turn.
Applegate now faces a terrifying medical mystery, with worsening symptoms and no clear explanation of what is happening.
Christina Applegate Hospital Stay left she can barely move
Christina Applegate was reportedly rushed to a hospital in the Los Angeles area at the end of March, believing that the MS flare-up had become unbearable.
A source who has known the “Anchorman” actress for nearly two decades told him Daily Mail she was exhausted and “almost unable to move, basically motionless.”
It was during that hospital stay, the source revealed, that Applegate learned he had been misdiagnosed.
She reportedly spent four agonizing months in the hospital, with friends and family visiting “every day,” before being released on August 3.
Applegate had gone in expecting doctors to manage the inflammation through corticosteroids, plasma and physical therapy. Instead, the treatment plan ended without the certainty she had hoped for.
“She went in with a game plan that they were going to manage this, and she came out with fewer answers, completely unsure,” explained the insider.
The source described Applegate’s condition as continuing to deteriorate, even after the verdict was changed. “She’s living with this 24/7, she’s getting worse, and now she doesn’t even have a name for it. It’s terrible,” the insider said, adding, “She’s spinning. She’s not doing well at all.
Applegate says the Diagnosis is back at Square One

Christina Applegate initially kept the medical disclosure private, telling only close friends, according to the source.
The news also hit part of her public identity: she and her co-star Jamie-Lynn Sigler have used their podcast, “MeSsy,” to talk openly about living with MS and support others who are facing the disease.
“There was fear, because MS has become a big part of her personality. And now MS is not her thing,” said the source.
Applegate finally revealed the bad diagnosis on the podcast, admitting that she felt she had let the audience down.
“It’s weird because I feel like I let everyone down,” she told The Blast, adding, “I’m back at square one.”
Christina Applegate ignores online theories while doctors search for answers

Applegate is reportedly facing another round of tests, including blood tests, MRIs, and meetings with additional specialists.
On a recent episode of the “MeSsy” podcast, Dr. Marwa Kaisey, associate professor in Cedars-Sinai’s neurology department, said that MS can be difficult to diagnose because there is no single test that diagnoses or manages it.
“It’s not like we have something like a pregnancy test that says, ‘Yes. You have it.’ ‘No. No.’ It’s a list of criteria,” Kaisey said, describing misdiagnosis as “very common.”
As the medical examination continues, Applegate would avoid speculating on social media about what might have gone wrong.
A source said she expected people to blame vaccines, advise her to eat differently or promote homeopathic remedies.
“Whatever people think, don’t you think she’s already thought of this?” the source said. “She’s been living this 24/7/365. She’s been on top of everything.”
More From The Blast
Drew Applegate criticism from Megyn Kelly

After the update, Megyn Kelly publicly questioned Christina Applegate’s years of speaking out about multiple sclerosis in a conversation with the hosts of the political podcast “Ruthless.”
According to The Blast, Kelly called the former actress someone who was related to MS, saying, “Christina Applegate is really the person that I think most people, at least famous people, relate to this disease because she was one of the first to come out and say that she had it.”
Kelly then countered Applegate’s public claim and podcast, saying: “The woman who has been the epitome of every public health statement for many years about her MS… has now come forward to tell us everything she doesn’t have.
She also said Applegate was saddened by the misdiagnosis because “she doesn’t have to deal with this disease anymore.”
Former co-star Christina Applegate described supporting her through illness

Months before the public controversy, “Married… With Children” actor David Faustino had spoken about supporting Applegate as she dealt with what she then understood to be MS.
In a June conversation with Us WweeklyFaustino, who played Applegate’s younger brother, Bud Bundy, said he had known her since they were teenagers and it was difficult to understand what she was going through.
“It’s really hard for me to understand that you have a debilitating disease,” Faustino told the magazine, adding, “I can’t. I don’t know what that’s like. I can only go from her experience and what she’s told me.”
He said the situation was “a real blow”, but he looked at how Applegate kept meeting him.
“It’s been very difficult for her, but she keeps her sense of humor,” he said, adding that her dry, painful experience had not changed.
