In Wednesday night’s “A Closer Look” segment, Seth Meyers compared President Trump to Steve Carrell’s character from “Anchorman.” However, after Trump’s latest rally comments, the NBC host is reconsidering his choice.
In his “A Closer Look” segment Thursday night, Meyers again criticized the president for being able to launch Iran “nuking” Los Angeles or San Diego, and suggested that that it would be a real trauma.
“Okay, I get that you’re spinning a hypothetical situation by saying, ‘What if they do LA?’ But throwing in San Diego makes it really special,” Meyers said. “You got something against San Diego, bro? You know, ‘Closer Look’ on Wednesday, I compared you to Brick from ‘Anchorman,’ but I’m starting to think you’re Ron Burgundy.”
At that moment a clip from “Anchorman” played, in which Ferrell’s character proudly says “Go away, San Diego.”
Elsewhere in the segment, Meyers was roasting Trump for bragging about filling an area for a midterm rally, despite being immediately monitored by the on-site cameras, which went to the upper decks where there were several empty seats.
“Now you might be saying, ‘Hey, I bet every president starts drawing smaller crowds for their rallies the longer they’re president,’ but the truth is we don’t know for sure because most presidents stop doing f-king rallies!” Meyers bell. “They don’t have time because they are too busy as president. You should try it!”
