Wynonna Judd opens up about cutting financial aid during Girl’s Addiction Battle
In a candid interview on “The Shawn Ryan Show,” Judd talked about her decision to stop giving money to her daughter, Kelley, after years of trying to help her battle drug addiction.
The 62-year-old singer said she funded several rehabilitation programs and special schools before she realized her financial support was enabling the habit.
She also explained that stepping back was the hardest choice in her life, but she and her family had to be protected.
“I had to let him go and that doesn’t mean more possibilities, and it’s about to kill me ’cause when your child calls and says, ‘I’m hungry,’ what do you do? she revealed, according to People Magazine.
Judd also explained that Kelley is currently angry with her for taking away a successful career.
“And Grace is really mad at me right now,” the country singer added. “Because I had a career, and I was busy, and I didn’t have enough of her at first. I did the best I could. I’ve made a lot of mistakes, and she’s really tempted to go in with her baby.”
Wynonna Judd has been open about her relationship with Grace Kelley

This is not the first time Judd has spoken about her relationship with her daughter. In early October, Judd previously admitted the deep personal toll caused by constant fear for her child’s safety.
According to The Blast, the singer described how her worry about Kelley consumed her daily life and work habits. She remembered that she felt so terrified with fear that she would break down in tears when she left home to play.
But, over time, watching her child get in and out of trouble made the star accept that she couldn’t fix her daughter’s problems on her own. “I had to learn that I can’t save him,” she said.

Adding to her grief over the split, the singer revealed she was shocked after finding out about her daughter’s second pregnancy via social media.
Despite dedicated financial efforts to help her child over the years, the country star felt heartbroken to find out about her second grandchild from online video clips rather than a direct phone call.
She called Kelley her “love” and expressed grief over her meth addiction, as reported by The Blast.
Judd also admitted that she misses her daughter very much every day. She noted that while it is still extremely painful to watch from a distance, she has no choice but to pray for healing and focus on raising her grandson in a safe, loving environment.
The judge denied Grace Kelley’s Furlough request as a release date

Adding to the legal hurdles of becoming pregnant, court testimony revealed that Kelley had been released from prison for a short time before she gave birth.
According to The Blast, attorneys representing the 30-year-old filed a formal motion seeking a temporary reprieve from the Rockingham County Jail in Harrisonburg, Virginia, for her August extradition date.
However, a judge rejected the petition, asking her to remain in custody while she completes a 15-month sentence following a driving-related conviction.
Notably, court records confirm that Judd is still caring for her granddaughter, Kaliyah Grace, back at home while Kelley serves her sentence.
Grace Kelley accused her mother of a childhood cover-up involving an ex-stepfather

Judd and Kelley’s complicated relationship dates back to August 2025, when Kelley made serious personal allegations against her mother regarding past childhood trauma.
The Blast reported that Kelley accused her stepfather, DR Roach, of assaulting her when she was ten years old.
She said her famous mother tried to keep the matter quiet rather than go straight to law enforcement. Kelley also said authorities only learned about the situation after he showed up at a private counseling session.
“I don’t want to talk about my mother, but let’s say she is a good actress. She was never a mother,” she said.
Roach was arrested in 2007 and later pleaded guilty to attempted aggravated sexual battery. Judd filed for divorce shortly after his arrest made national news.
