Halle Berry’s daughter defends herself against abuse claims

Halle Berry is facing new charges in a bitter custody dispute involving her 13-year-old son, Maceo, but her daughter Nahla Aubry, who she shares with an ex-boyfriend Gabriel Abrynow standing publicly behind her.

In a declaration filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, Nahla disputed Olivier Martinezclaiming that Berry was abusive towards their son.

The 18-year-old girl, who has lived with Maceo for years, described her mother as a devoted parent and said the allegations were completely inconsistent with the relationship she saw between Berry and her youngest child.

Nahla’s declaration is reviewed by the Daily Mail he directly challenged Martinez’s alleged behavior.

The teenager revealed that she never saw Halle Berry behave violently towards anyone and in particular she denied seeing her mother physically abusing Maceo.

“I never saw my mother hit, slap, choke, grab or abuse Maceo in any way,” said Nahla. She also admitted that she never saw Berry throw anything at anyone, including “a knife, a plate, or anything else.”

Instead, Nahla described a very different relationship between her mother and brother. She said she again saw Berry and Maceo “wrestling playfully, tickling each other, and running around laughing on the floor or bed many times.”

Nahla also said she never saw Berry engage “in any behavior that resembled the allegations made against her.” Berry has denied Martinez’s claims.

Nahla’s revelation also focused on the everyday relationship she had seen between Halle Berry and Maceo, rather than just dealing with the specific allegations.

She described the “Catwoman” actress as a “loving and devoted parent” who could be strict when necessary and expected her children to follow the rules and be respectful.

Nahla said Berry remained “warm, supportive, and very involved in our lives” despite maintaining a demanding role.

She remembered that her mother regularly gave her time and said that she had seen Berry do the same for Maceo.

“She attended his games, drove him to practices and competitions, and advocated for his education and access to medical treatment and therapy,” Nahla continued.

The 18-year-old said, “She celebrates our successes, supports us through challenges, and is always there when we need her.”

Nahla also revealed that Berry encouraged her children to maintain loving relationships with their fathers and never spoke negatively about Gabriel or Martinez.

Nahla also noted that she was “shocked, very sad and very upset” when she learned of Martinez’s allegations against Berry.

After living with her mother all her life and seeing Berry’s relationship with Maceo for years, Nahla said that the allegations did not match what she knew.

She also expressed concern about Maceo, saying she was “heartbroken for Maceo” and disappointed that he had been the subject of a public controversy that he may not have fully understood.

Nahla turned her frustration to Martinez, saying she felt he hadn’t considered the impact the controversy had on her as well.

“I’m also angry that Olivier didn’t respect or care enough for me to put my headline under my mother. I feel like I’m an afterthought to Olivier in his attempt to destroy my mother,” she said.

Berry is trying to restore her previous custody arrangement

Before her daughter Nahla declared in court, Halle Berry made another move in her battle against Olivier Martinez.

As The Blast reported, Berry asked a Los Angeles court to reinstate the 50/50 custody arrangement she and Martinez had agreed to in August 2023 for their son, Maceo.

She also sought to regain her previous bonding authority over his mental health and education decisions and asked Martinez to resume court-ordered therapy sessions.

Berry’s filing came after Martinez obtained a domestic violence restraining order and attempted to modify their custody arrangement following his allegations that Berry physically abused Maceo during a Sept. 26 incident. Berry denied the allegations and disputed Martinez’s account of what happened.

In her application, Berry said that Maceo sometimes returned from custody of Martinez “angry and sad”, taking two or three days to reconcile before returning to his father. She also accused Martinez of implicating Maceo in a private disagreement and influencing him to take his father’s position.

Martinez later filed a response asking the court to deny Berry’s request. Their next hearing was scheduled for October 16.

According to court documents obtained by the outlet, the 60-year-old signed a certificate on October 6 confirming that she had completed the program.

The Los Angeles Superior Court requires parents involved in custody or visitation disputes to complete the online mediation and parent education course before proceeding with these cases.
