Donny Wahlberg became emotional as he spoke New kids on the block fans during the group’s residency in Las Vegas.
The 57-year-old singer was visibly moved on stage at Dolby Live at Park MGM as he thanked longtime fans, known as Blockheads, who have continued to support the group more than four decades after their formation.
In the photos provided to Just Jared, Donny reminded the crowd that the five members of NKOTB it’s only part of what makes the shows special.
“I know we’ve been doing this for a long time,” he said. “And I think we can all agree that this never gets old. I know we like to joke around that we’re getting old, but I know deep, deep down, this keeps us all young together.”
He then got emotional on stage as the crowd laughed in support, and told the story of a fan giving him a hug earlier in the day, telling him it felt like teasing an “old friend”.
“I’ve thought about that almost every minute since that hook ended,” he explained.
The emotional moment comes as New kids on the block continue with the last part of their October The Right Thing Las Vegas residence.
The group will perform eight shows at MGM Dolby Live at Park this month, with further performances scheduled for October 7, 9, 10, 14, 16 and 17.
Ahead of the final, Donny they admitted that saying goodbye to the resident would be emotional for the group.
The residence was originally launched in 2025 and was later extended through 2026 following strong demand. MGM previously said that the Vegas production was designed specifically for Dolby Live with large elements that could not be taken on the road.
