‘Artificial’ movie reviews: What critics are saying about Andrew Garfield’s Sam Altman film

The first reviews for Andrew Garfieldand the new movie artificial there is!

The 43-year-old actor plays the CEO of OpenAI Sam Altman in a director Luca Guadagninoand the new film, which had its world premiere at the 2026 New York Film Festival earlier this week.

The film focuses on the five days in 2023 when Sam was removed as CEO of OpenAI before returning to the company days later.

After the premiere, critics are divided in their opinions, and many compare the film to Andrewand 2010 hit The social network.

What critics are saying about it artificial?

The film currently has a fresh rating of 92% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 13 reviews as of Wednesday (October 7).

The early response has been generally positive, with some special praise going on Andrew and Yura Borisovwho plays OpenAI co-founder and former chief scientist Ilya Sutskever.

Differentand Clayton Davis he called Luca“the best film of ten years” and was praised Andrew and Jurain their achievements.

“Hopefully, this is a film that can be more than a reminder of all that we could lose,” TheWrap notes in its own review, calling it “a sensational, terrifying exploration of our present and future apocalypse.

Victory gave the film a B, noting that it does not overlap with other Silicon Valley true stories and that the film is “not full of humor.”

International Screen he criticized the screenplay for not doing “any real insight” into the makers of the technology, calling it “incredibly toothless.”

artificial is scheduled to open in theaters on December 25 via Neon.

Sam recently revealed what Andrew he got it right about playing it, as well as what he thinks the movie seems to have gone wrong. Andrew also dispute with one of Samand the claims about the interaction they say.
