Kate Johnson she revealed what happened to her and Cooper Dawson after burning wrapped Below deck Mediterraneanand she shared more insight into why she broke up with him in the finale.
In the last episode, Kat ended her romance with Cooper after seeing him flirting with “random” people on their last night with the team in Croatia. Earlier, Cooper told Kat that he wanted their romance to be a secret because he was tired of talking about it so often. Some fans felt he was being led while keeping his options open.
Speaking to Bravo Insider, Kat shared what happened with her and Cooper after the season ended filming, and explained why she broke up.
“I think it was just that I finally realized that it was never going to give me depression,” said Kat. “I think when I agreed to the secret relationship, I was holding on to the hope [that he would] wake up one day and be like, ‘I don’t want this to be a secret. I want us to enjoy a date.”
“On the last day of the season, I was like, ‘Wait… You’re still not giving me what I deserve?'” Kat continued. “That’s when I realized, I was like, ‘Well, this can’t go any further.’ And honestly I was so upset because I liked it so much. I feel like I have come to terms with the truth. “
She said they had “very spotty” communication after filming ended.
“I saw him on the flight home,” she explained. “And then I saw him once in LA, but that was a very awkward interaction. And then he would text me every few months when it was convenient for him.
“Even to this day, I just feel driven by Cooper,” she said. “Not, like, cheated, but I feel like every time he would pull back and I’d be like, ‘OK, is this over?’ he would come back and be like, ‘Yeah, no, no. We are still together.’ I felt so alone all the time, because he would give me a little and guide me. But he was never like everyone. … I think that was extremely frustrating, even to this day. And that’s why I was so, I’m even still confused about what our relationship was.”
Kat said she was “single”.
