If a movie does well, and there is even a slight chance that the story it told will continue, you probably shouldn’t be surprised if a sequel is made. If the first sequel does well enough, then you’re looking down the barrel of a potential trilogy, and once a collection of films is three entries long, or longer, it’s fair to call it a series.
There are some trilogies below, and there are also some series that have grown beyond the boundaries of a trilogy, but everything here is united by one thing: there is only one very good film in each individual series. Now, “excellent” is different from “good,” by many of these examples with more than one good film, but if you are talking great and/or difficult filmsthen there is only one row here.

‘Ocean’s’ (2001 – present)
You can count The Ocean 11 (1960) as part of the Ocean a row if you like, but either way, there’s only one Ocean a very good movie, and it’s in 2001 The sea of eleven. It’s pretty much a reboot of the original movie, and it takes some of the stuff that worked and modernizes everything, makes it really work, or maybe makes it deliver in a way that people might feel watching the original some 40-ish years earlier.
Technically the series isn’t over, so maybe one day Ocean will have another great movie. But for now, it’s just Ocean’s Eleven.
Also, The sea of eleven it was a huge success and I really liked it, so a sequel was inevitable. Ocean’s Twelve feeling a little smug and inconsistent, while it was Thirteen of the Ocean a little better, but maybe he played things too safe. Ocean 8 it was also lacking, as there was very little sense of suspense or danger there, and sure, technically the series isn’t over, so maybe there will be another great one Ocean Movie one day. But for now, it just is The sea of elevenand the rest don’t have as much to offer.

‘Iron Man’ (2008–2013)
iron man began the iron man series, obviously, but it also did so much more by being the first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That is worth considering as part of his history, but that is also emphasized as a way of saying that, no, iron man it’s not the only great movie in the MCU. Counting the iron man movies that belong in their own series, however…
…Yes, iron man (2008) is the only really good one. Iron man 2 download a little strange, but a little easier to understand in retrospect, given how it worked until the first The Avengersalmost like Avengers 0.5 (by the same logic, Captain America: Civil War is kind of like that Avengers 2.5). Iron man 3 it is better, but it’s still a bit uneven, so calling the first one is the only one that’s ok it doesn’t feel like too scary a claim to make.

‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ (2003–2017)
Hopefully this one won’t be controversial, since then Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of Black Peter (2003) is an undeniable classic, and so is the hard work to follow. Movies #2 and #3 certainly have their fans, and there are some of those movies that are definitely strong (they’re hard to crack technically and in terms of the scene delivered), but the overall cleanliness and dedication of the first movie makes it stand out and then some.
The less we say about later films in the series, the better, although this is another Ocean a situation where new movies are being planned, although none of them are that far along, so for now, it’s a series that will “end” in 2017. Things could change, though, especially if there’s a new one. Pirates of the Caribbean a film aiming to be a sequel rather than a remake or reboot, and if that sequel happens to be good, then yes, this would have to change. That doesn’t sound too likely right now, so for now, Pirates of the Caribbean he has to stay here (sorry).

‘The Dark Knight’ (2005–2012)
Perhaps the most questionable selection here, that should be emphasized Batman begins still good enough, and The Dark Knight Riseseven though it’s messy, it has its moments and it’s definitely a good scene. It is also worth noting that this only applies to the Batman films directed by Christopher Nolancounts his trilogy as his own series, because if you look at it Batman on the whole, it can be said that some are good non-Nolan Batman movies.
Of this particular series, however, The Dark Knight It’s easily the most important of the bunch, and deserves to be held up as something of a modern classic in general (not just as a comic book/superhero movie). It’s good, and also hard to fault, surpasses the other two films in the trilogy to which it belongs in terms of a rather comfortable quality.

‘Spider-Man’ (2002-2007)
Like Batman, it must be specified that only the Sam Raimi Spider-Man films are counted here as one series, as it would be sacrilegious to suggest that the A spirit poem movies were also not good. With Raimi, however, Spider-man 2 new It is the best thing, and one of those series that took everything good in the first film that was already harder and improved on all of these things.
Things fell a bit with him Spider-man 3although that one has its moments, even if it’s easily identifiable as the most flawed of the bunch. Also, 2002s Spider-Man It’s close to greatness, to the point where putting the Raimi trilogy here felt a little iffybut Spider-man 2 new it is very good, while it is Spider-Man (2002) is slightly flawed but still close to great, and also deserves a few extra points, so to speak, for its importance to the superhero genre.

‘The Matrix’ (1999–2021)
The one big thing of course Matrix the first film, from 1999. That being said, every series is, at least, interesting, and with the second one, Matrix fully loadedyou have something that is even good. “Great” is a stretch, but at least the action in that movie delivers, and then some world building adds to the overall series (not all world building, though, and in terms of pace, Matrix fully loaded slightly unfair).
The matrix revolution feels like an ending, for what it’s worth, but disappointing in terms of function, and then it’s not really as mobile or powerful as it should be. As for the fourth film, The Resurrection Matrix? Conceptually, it’s interesting, and there’s a lot to understand if you want to dig beneath the surface, but it lacks more straightforward entertainment value, and the action, at this point, is honestly beyond unsatisfying.

‘Thor’ (2011–2022)
The Thor The series is honestly very interesting to watch, just with the highs and lows in it. The first movie isn’t great, but it’s better than movies #2 and #4, just not achieving greatness, even if you’re feeling generous. Amazing and otherworldly Shakespeare still an interesting vibe, and that approach was lost when a Thor: The Dark World I ended up feeling like more of a generic (and honestly forgettable) superhero movie.
Thor: Ragnarok the guy is really good Thor film, and updated the series and the character by taking on a more humorous tone. sadly, Thor: Love and Rain he made it very difficult to socialize and fool around, and without many good jokes to support such an approach, it ended up being a rather boring viewing experience. At the time of writing, Thor is still part of the Avengers series, and it looks like he will have a major role in it Doomsdaybut whether there will be another solo Thor movies still to be seen.

‘Jurassic Park/World’ (1993 – present)
There are a bunch of Jurassic Park movies, and also a few Jurassic World films, but they are all going to be counted as part of the same series, mainly because Dominion of the Jurassic world he connected the two together, and unhappily, at that. First Jurassic World it was a good enough blockbuster, but it wasn’t particularly good, and then while there are good moments The Lost World: Jurassic Park what some give it credit for, it’s a rather deceptive film in other ways.
Therefore, it is not surprising, this is the first one Jurassic Park that stands out as the very best, and perhaps feels the least dated overall, even as he is (obviously) the oldest of the group. It has everything a film of its kind needs and then some, honestly being a true blockbuster overall and that too it’s hard to imagine any other dinosaur movie coming close quality-wise.
