3 Best New Movies to Watch on Hulu This Week (October 18-24)

If you’re settling in for some streaming this week, there’s a good chance you’re looking for something spooky as October breezes by (or swelters on, depending on where you live) towards Halloween. Luckily, this week’s new Hulu releases bring a pair of 2025 horror shows, so you’re covered on that front. And if you’re not a horror person at all, you can look ahead and start preparing for one of the biggest releases of the year with the entire “Hunger Games” franchise now available to watch on Hulu.

If you want to catch up before “Sunrise on the Reaping” hits theaters, now is the time, and the good news for Hulu subscribers is that all five “Hunger Games” movies hit the stage on October 14. for “Mockingjay – Part 1” in 2014, a casualty of the unfortunate decision to split the final book into two parts when the first half of that book is notoriously a grueling slog.

In addition, these films are a unique adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ YA generation series, each installment finding a new way to explore war and propaganda while delivering unforgettable characters and one hit ensemble after the next. “Sunrise” hits theaters on November 17, so start your rewatch (or re-read if you’re going all in) now.

Companion

Surprisingly though it may be, with the current technological revolutions reshaping society, there aren’t that many robot horror movies – and even fewer that are really good. “Company,” however, delivers, and it does so with a classic sci-fi approach: making humanity the horror, not the creation.

Sophie Thatcher stars in “Yellowjackets” alongside “The Boys” star Jack Quaid as a couple whose remote weekend goes violently wrong when an attack on one of the guests leads them to realize they are androids built as romantic partners. That is certainly not what they want to be, or what they intend to stay, no matter what it takes to get their freedom. None of the twists and turns here are too surprising, especially if you’ve ever seen a trailer for it, but boy does it deliver an engaging action-horror romp.

A Werewolf

A little more on the boring side of movie monsters, we have “Wolf Man”. The film 2025 is not at the level of director Leigh Whannell’s best and never reaches the height of his remake “The Invisible Man”, but he is a terrible filmmaker, which means that there are definitely moments that wolf enthusiasts will appreciate.

“East of Eden” Christopher Abbott stars alongside “Ozark” Emmy winner Julia Garner as two parents trying to protect their family from a supernatural threat without becoming the monster they fear. It’s not your typical werewolf movie, slower and more pensive than you might expect, and unfortunately, these character beats are among the weakest elements, but it brings the brutality when it comes to the body horror of transformation.
